RavaraMike: What an fascinating pairing Alonso and Vettel would make. In identical cars it would show the greatness of one (or maybe even both?). Sadly there is too much Ferrari ego and testosterone in the mix to make that likely. What a shame.
That is the reason why Alonso is leaving. He will not race against teammate who will be given same equipment. Anyone remember why he left McLaren? He didnt het number 1 role when Lewis did so well. Now Mattiaci has told Alonso 1. Alonso is not the boss, Mattiaci is and 2. He needs to race with same equipment as hes teammate.
He left McLaren because they were racing against him not because it was equal.

richard: some could suggest an automatic sensor controlled speed limiter at a marshals post, but what happens if car 1,2 and 3 have a speed limiter activated, and then sensor is turned off by the time cars 4-22 come along? they would get an unfair advantage.
Probably the only way to do it fairly would be to implement it around the entire circuit. This is better than a safety cars as the gaps between the cars remains. They should also look at modifying the recovery vehicles. Even the highway maintenance vehicles here in California have a drop down impact barrier at the rear that they use when traveling slowly on the highways. energyabsorption.com/products/images/alpha2001-1.gif

sodesu: Time to start working on some kind of electronic throttle/top speed limiter to kick in in sectors with yellows maybe? They already have the sector data, and they also already have a limiter for the pit lane, albeit a manually employed one. I'd much rather have that than safety cars deployed for every incident, like in NASCAR. Or than drivers going too fast in sectors with marshals and/or stationary cars in, for that matter...
If F1 racing gets down to that why not make the cars to be able to be driven by remote controll, may be only than will some that follows F1 racing will be happy!.
So are you against pit lane speed limiters? This seems like a reasonable idea as why should it be possible to speed through a yellow flag zone? For all that we know Jules didn't even see the yellow flags in these conditions.

Mustafur: A lot of people here have short memories here don't they? The reason for the bad blood in 2007 was the Hungarian Qualifying mishap and then Alonso threatening to tell the FIA about there spying unless he got favoured, and Dennis just went straight to FIa and told them the scenario to avoid Alonso's blackmail.
And yet it was McLaren that got the $100m fine, not Alonso! Since your memory is so great do you remember that the FIA had to put an observer in the McLaren garage to make sure that the team was not tampering with Alonso's car?
