F1 » Vettel ‘not allowed’ to announce F1 future

throttlemeister:
fearenside: God.! I absolutely hated watching Schumacher collide with Hill and Villeneuve. One of those acts of deliberately endangering life actually won him a world championship. There is still room for sportsmanship in sport. The current generation of drivers i respect much more.
The one with Hill was Hill's fault, not Schumacher. Even Hill admitted such a few years back. The other one though.... Then again, the greatest champions are always prepared to do whatever it takes. Even if its dirty or dangerous.
To be fair JV's pass was pretty argy bargy.

F1 » Max Mosley expects more F1 teams to fold

theeagle: Max played a great part in F1 but sadly his words now are too little too late (though no fault of Max). What I dont get is what happened to the Bond (large cash deposit) potential teams/ entrants were required to lodge to show their seriousness. Maybe this is another part F1 lost since Max left.
The bond is to show that they have enough financial backing to make the grid. It is not enough to run a team on indefinitely.

F1 » Marussia F1 goes into administration

Taz:
107SS2009: Lompico, F1 teams are sharing a prize fund of over $750m which would equate to $68m to each team if it were divided equally between 11 teams, but it doesn’t work like that, the winning team earns the most while the last earns the least, the key is “The ratio”, in premier league difference top to bottom is a ratio of 1.5:1, while in F1 it is a ratio of 4.5:1, this came about as a promise by BE FOR TEAMS TO QUIT FOTA.
If memory serves me right RBR & Ferrari accepted Bernie's pieces of silver 1st and then the rest fell in line.
Actually I thought it was Williams that was the first to break from FOTA.

F1 » US Grand Prix set for smallest F1 grid since 2005

For the makers in F1 is it that important? Ferrari, McLaren and Merc sell more in the Middle East and China, Lotus are nothing to do with Lotus Cars, Caterham (if they were there..) are probably not sold in the US which leaves Red Bull, Torro Rosso, Sauber, Force India and WIlliams, none of whom make road cars. Sponsorship wise, don't some teams have a different named sponsor, exclusive to the US race (thinking of McLaren who used to have Verizon instead of vodafone..)? The withdrawal of Marussia and Caterham is hardly a surprise, both having been starved to death by owners who have lost interest. Its unfortunate that Austin ends up with a smaller grid but, honestly, will anyone notice the lack of road blocks?
The U.S. is the largest market for Mercedes and Ferrari. It is also probably the biggest market for Red Bull. I do think that attendance will be lower due to the lack of good racing or good sound.

F1 » Horner wants F1 engine unfreeze handled ‘responsibly’

Objective: I am predicting that F1 won't survive beyond 2016 unless major changes are made to the distribution of funds between teams, there is a degree of parity in PU performance and the business model is changed to better attract fans. At the moment everything they are doing is driving the fans away.
Champ Car limped along for years. F1 could surely last for at least a decade with a fraction of the current fan base.
