F1 » Ferrari ‘must step up a gear immediately’

tommytrojan1: I'm still asking myself (as I'm sure many others are) what exactly are this man's qualifications to take over the running of history's most storied, colourful and (currently) troubled F1 team? I'm not knocking him, but just what are his racing qualifications? Is/was he a mechanic, or race engineer on any motorsport level? How can someone who has obviously flown so low under the radar wind up at the helm of this team - especially when they are struggling so much?
Briatore wasn't an engineer or a mechanic and he was a successful team leader. Being the leader is about getting the most out of the people on the team and selecting the right people for the job. Surely it is his team building skill set that got him this job, not his technical knowledge.

F1 » Pirelli: Perez excuse ‘pathetic’

nealio: Hembrey is correct in that the Circuit de Catalunya's layout leads to boring races for aero-dominated racers. As a result of the lessening of aero downforce this year the race may not be so boring. As we see in practice there is more time difference between cars which means more passing will be necessary and easier. Calling Perez's criticism pathetic seems to be a rather emotional response. Hembrey must be feeling pressure from some source or sources?
Since KERS and DRS were introduced the boring tracks like Bahrain and Valencia have had exciting races and the typically interesting tracks have had somewhat boring races. Strange.

F1 » Six of the Best: Fernando Alonso wins

jesse: still don't know why FA used KR chassis in Bahrain test.
Try to keep up. This has been stated numerous times on these forums. Testing can only take place with one car per team at FIA-approved sites and cannot take place outside of Europe without the agreement of a majority of the teams. Ahead of a session, teams must inform the governing body of their schedule so that an observer can be appointed if deemed necessary. All cars must be fitted with the standardised, FIA-approved Electronic Control Unit and have successfully passed all FIA-mandated crash tests.
