R.I.P. F1!
We have already lost most of the classic circuits now this may be the final nail in the coffin. As much as I love F1 I would rather see the teams stick to their guns that let Max win this one.
On Ferrari needing F1 to sell cars, that simply is not the case. All of the Ferrari owners that I have met are aware of F1 but I would hardly consider them fans of the series. If Ferrari were to run at LeMans and Indy it would create a huge amount of publicity. Probably more publicity than they are getting from on track this year.

Chances are that Button will never stand on the top step of a podium again.

Ecclestone: Silverstone deal 'better than others'
1 agrees.
@Al - I have heard that Monaco does not pay anything. Given their lack of potential for selling tickets and the importance of that race it is probably the only model that would work. Don't get me wrong, I think that Bernie does take too much from the sport. I just don't think that Britain should get a better deal than Germany, France, Canada, or the US. I think that the whole model needs to change. FOM should be the race promoter and rent the tracks that they race at. Bernie does need to be careful that he does not lose too much of the fan base if he decides to axe another European race. Maybe the BRDC should start talking with the IRL to show Bernie that F1 is not everything.

Ecclestone: Silverstone deal 'better than others'

@Al - Monaco really does not have the revenue generating potential that Silverstone does. I would be surprised if they even have 10,000 seats available in Monaco. I assume that the harbor fees go into a different til. On the other hand Silverstone could have a few hundred thousand paying fans. Now with 2 British champions there is no excuse not to have sell out races in the UK. I get the feeling that the BRDC members are more concerned with their dividend checks than with making any improvements. David Hobbs has said as much on Speedtv. He is a member and he just wants his check.

“They need to go and buy a pen.” So is Bernie so cheap that he won't let them borrow a pen? That is the message I got from it. Obviously there is still much hostility towards the BRDC. On the other hand the Brits keep reminding everyone that the UK is the center of the F1 universe so they should have no problem hosting the most popular GP and paying accordingly. It does not make a lot of sense why the UK should get a discount compared to other countries. What really needs to happen is that Bernie should run the whole show. He should rent the track and keep the money from the gate.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - Friday free practice (1).
I wish that they didn't have that chicane before the first hairpin. I guess they didn't have enough runoff area? Seems a little silly that with a huge desert they have space limitations creating the need for a chicane there. I can't think of any other hairpins like that.

Trulli, Sutil Interlagos row spills over to Abu Dhabi

I assume that the four disagrees mean that I am not the only one who saw Sutil veer towards Trulli. Sorry for posting my question in a way that required a disagree to agree.

Trulli was along side of him but he let Sutil push him onto the grass. He should have held his ground even if it meant crashing. Am I the only one who noticed that Sutil appeared to veer towards Trulli before he went off? I think that Trulli was right about Barcelona too. Sutil cut the track and did not lift.

McLaren 'would do nothing' to jeopardise Sauber F1 future
Munrow - Was Frank right to block the "test"? I think it is a bit misleading to even call it a test. They should have called it a practice. It has been dangerous to let these new drivers race without so much as a practice to get used to the car. Grosjean, Alguaseri, Badoer, and Kobayashi have all suffered and made the racing more dangerous by their lack of time in the current cars. I realize that is how the rule was written but if the other teams are willing to make exceptions it makes Williams look like they don't give a damn about safety or good racing. Karma is not going to be good to them.

McLaren 'would do nothing' to jeopardise Sauber F1 future
@Munrow - if the argument is about what will make the racing better surely Sauber has more potential to do that than one of the newcomers. Frank Williams has a heart of cold not a heart of gold. Hopefully he will hire some of the soon to be out of work Sauber personnel.
