MotoGP » Kevin Schwantz, COTA reach settlement

Whatever the backdoor deal was...I'm glad its over and resolved amicably...or at least as it appears. COTA and MotoGP are better for it and personally, I believed Schwantz was cut out of the deal...whether by naivity thinking a word or handshake was enough!! Lesson learnt and I tuly believe it was business not personal as COTA was also trying to maximize their stake in the business of MotoGP. There may have been some unethical issues there but certainly not illegal as there was never a written contract with the new owners/management group of the circuit...regardless of how much effort Schwantz had put in!! In any regard, I believe the right thing was done...agreed on... and it will be a win win for all....

MotoGP » Scott Redding - Q&A

arthurs: Maybe if he was Spanish or Italian just beating the other Hondas would be enough, but he's British, so he's going to have to stay near the front to get a sniff of factory kit.
Bradley Smith got a factory kit with a less shining I am not sure what your opinion is based on... The entire paddock/racing community knows that the prody racer is no better than a CRT so being 1st prody/CRT and against Nicky is a realistic and boast worthy claim as Nicky is a decent racer with tons of experience...not to mention a former world champion.... 1 of only 5 in 14 years... a talented few!

MotoGP » MotoGP clarifies Factory-Open concessions

I believe the last sentence refers to the achievement of the results in 2014..then the reduced concessions will apply to the remaining 2014 season and the whole of 2015. They probably should have added that if the results occur in 2015 then the reduced concessions would apply only for the remainder of 2015. As 2016 will bring a whole new era for all. This seems obvious but legal wording and assumption can make for a hell of a day as people begin to toy with the rules...hence the whole comments about spirit of the rules by Honda. It just depends on how others view it. Anyway, to cover all bases they may need to put this revision in.

MotoGP » Final Factory/Open MotoGP line-up revealed

I agree that there needs to be one rule accross the board but that is an ideal we all strive for!! in between time the rules have to flex to promote competition.... what sense would MotoGP be or how would it survive if all independent teams could not pay to go racing and struggling factories like Ducati say...eff it!! this is a waste as we cannot progress and we are just looking worst every year...let us focus on SBK...and Suzuki decide to delay the comeback as not feasible since they are already now we have 2 factorys racing and a grid size of 8 or 10...I was worried when it was only 16!! So I understand the reason behind the opposition to these new rules and I do not agree (wholly) with them but have to realize it is needed if we want MotoGP to survive....and bring greater levels of competition and will never be perfect!! Moto2 has control tyre and engine and there is sill disparity in the resources. So teams with bigger budgets always float to the top!!

MotoGP » Espargaro tops FP1 on Open Yamaha in Qatar

This is good for the face and bike up front....when last have we seen this...I know the tide will change come FP2 or 3 but this is a positive start... Someone suggested to give OPEN teams a further 3 days practice at every track prior to the I like it actually but in reality maybe they could give them an extra practice session starting day before FP1 or make FP1, 1.5 hours long with OPEN bikes taking to the track for first 45 mins. then joined by all teams after....this could be a concession for OPEN teams only. But I fear if we keep making concessions this will truly become a category within a category (as if it is not already) and less towards a unified rule under 1 championship

MotoGP » Crutchlow: The rule just got better for us again!

I think Crutchlow realizes the deficit to the front... he spent 3 years getting close to it and now he was back in 10th-13th at Sepang...that is why he was welcoming the OPEN change...and he is correct the change back to factory gives them more help getting closer to the he is ha ppy as a rider that he will (may) not be fighting for a mere 6-10 place!! His statement says nothing about suddenly gaining the greatest unfair adantage and winning every GP just that the change in rules to OPEN was a very good move that benefitted (more like helped) Ducati and now they get to keep the factory software with OPEN concession thereby... being able to develop the bike and that holds true for 2 years. Now if they do not get to the front...this could be a bigger failure/embarrassment than the poor effort they put in when they spent millions to get Rossi and did not follow suit on the development....
