MotoGP » Smith: I thought something was wrong with the screen!

IvorBueb: I dunno, I always thought not crashing was a pretty good strategy.
Dam good comment...I believe that is why Rossi won...I also believe that is why JLo got second...oh and Bradley got third...and oh...Dovi got fourth and oh..Barbera got fifth ...and oh...everyone else got their position.... So everyone who finished today got the finish because they did not crash...hmmmm? Sounds like one hell of a strategy to me...... But these armchair warriors of here know better...I guess....

This was a fair fight..he never knocked anyone off and he held his ground and did not fall off...safe or not...average rider or not...the history books will reflect Bradley Smith #38 on the podium at PHILLIP ISLAND!!! Congrats...enough said.. All opinions are welcomed!!! PS I am a Rossi fan who did not think Bradley Smith earned his ride in MotoGP.... but in no way will I discredit the fact that he earned this podium..as did every one else who was behind MM...which was everyone on the motogp field!!!!!

MotoGP » Bridgestone defends asymmetric tyre, will offer again

You all forget that Michelin failed as well back in the days of tyre competition...prompting one of their best supported riders to leave and also their other next best rider to leave...DP mid season... Jorge wanted to leave as well but contracts etc.... Anyway you all scream like tyre competition is the do all end all answer when clearly it was not! Every scenario will require compromise. Again my only issue with control tyre is that I believe it makes racing more expensive not cheaper as was initially alluded to since bikes have to now be developed around tyres and not the other way.... But if we go back to open tyre competition...I do not want to hear any bi*****g about special made tyres when that is the nature of open competition. Tyre manufacturers will develop specific tyres that work for their top riders and allot them accordingly...I.e. Special made!!! Michelin stated this will not happen in 2016... But of course!!! It is a control tyre bid that they won and the rules are sel

If you ask me..Bridgestone has done a hell of a job with tyres and developing tyres that the top manufactures can win on. I do not believe they build the tyre with one specific person in mind but instead with durability and speed in mind and the bike manufacturers were left to develop a bike around the tyre...so the wins and titles, just reflects which manufacturer did the best job...and when they didn't but still did well then we can assuredly credit the rider for making it work.... Bridgestones strategy makes control tyre financially possible. Their plan for Phillip Island was laid out for all to know.. The tyres are developed not magically whipped up when 2 days before they get a weather forecast. Last year, everyone blamed Bridgestone..when the fact is all the tyre manufacturers were caught out.. i.e. Dunlop as well... Michelin would have done no better as they could not predict what the new surface that no- one ever saw would do!!!! Sorry guys, I do not see the failure you all tal

I do agree that motorcycles have gotten better as well but the black stuff in contact with the Tarmac has to be better as well. Here is the deal people...I get a little tired of this fickle mindedness. What do you all want? Tyre competition or control tyre? Because every time we talk about Rossi and his domination pre- 2010 all the arguments come out the wood work about how Michelin special made tyres for him... Well guess what when you have true tyre competition that is what happens, and the tyre manufacturer will use the top rider in its line up to dictate the development hence Rossi's benefit. It's not like Michelin payed all other competitors to lose!!!! So now we have control tyres and Rossi won 2 titles on those as well... My only issue with control tyre is that you have to build the motorbike around the tyre which seems more expensive than building the tyre around the bike..but the question is more expensive for who?... Controls tyre is more expensive for motorcycle builders an

I actually think this is a direct consequence of the control tyre rule. When Bridgestone & Michelin were in direct competition you didn't see this kind of thing happening. Both companies were focused on supplying absolutely the best they could & their customer teams expected nothing less. Progression was obvious & rapid. But when you are the only game in town, complacency steps in and standards decline. I disagree..the tyres have gotten much better since the competitive era.. All lap times and current records are on the control tyres... The problem with control tyre is making one tyre that suits every bike and rider...hardly an easy job... In the old days Michelin could make 4 different tyres for 4 different riders...those days are gone...PS. isn't this what people hated about Rossi's early days...special made tyres...well control tyre was your answer, now deal with it!!!!!!

MotoGP » Rossi rolls back years with ‘Island victory

Come on guys!! Give Jorge a break! If the dude says he had a bad tyre.. I believe him the fall off was too much and the pic of his destroyed tyre was more than damaged due to race wear...it was bad when no-one else's was that bad... He kept it upright with that when others could not and in the end he got a podium..fair play.. He never discredited Rossi...he even said he had a lucky second...luckiest of his career!!! He is a competitor and a fierce one at that so he will never accept a defeat!!! That is what we want from our racers..... With that said...I am a Rossi fan and I am ecstatic Rossi won...fair play to MM...I believe he had it in the bag although Rossi was catching however if he stayed upright Rossi may have destroyed his tyre trying to beat him... I believe Rossi even said he settled and was just focused on Jorge until the MM crash...so I am not convinced Rossi could have beat MM but he kept it upright when others did not, same as all the other podium boys...congrats to the

Rossi can surpass the records of Ago..but to be honest it is pointless as Rossi has more premiere class wins than Ago already. To beat a record of total wins is not really fair comparison because of the defunct classes and more wins that were in a lower class and also during a time when riders competed in 2 classes on the same day...MM already said this would not be possible simply because of the PR commitments of a larger sport more worldwide than when Ago raced... If Rossi steps up the win ratio to about 6/ year then it is most likely he would surpass it but if he does 2 or 3 wins..he needs 4 or 5 more years to accomplish it.
