WSBK » WSBK Rider of the Year vote: 2nd

I would say more or less my ratings were pretty much in line with the championship results... I believe I had Guigliano higher just on sheer determination and crazy trying to win but his inconsistency in races probably placed him where he is at... Unfortunately, I placed Baz way lower (nothing to do with his spat with Sykes) because I really expected a championship challenge from him this year... I really thought 2 Kawasaki would be in the top three positions at years end!! Although he improved overall with consistency and podium results minus the win, I expected more from his results on a top machine...

BSB » Kiyonari ‘honoured’ by Crash.net win

I was so happy to see his upturn in form... you do not lose talent but he was obviously battling an aged Honda (something Lowes did better than him) but gelled really well with BMW...Here is to hoping for a BSB Championship next year for Kiyo... PS. I like Shakey too but this is just the underdog story BSB needs.... I think many need to examine bringing Haga back as well. Remember Kiyo was out of BSB for 1 year as well.. I do not believe Haga is done just never given the consistent home he needed when everything started going south.... Yamaha should have kept him on for one more year because he had to learn most of the BSB tracks...I think 2nd year would have been great but we will never know...lot of young riders coming up as well..

MM did not dominate for the last 2 years... MM dominated in 2014!!... He won the WC in 2013 (record breaking for a rookie) but I would not call it dominating..... Jorge was broken for about 4 rounds and still had more wins than MM (8 to 6) and still took the championship down to the final round with a mere 4 points separating the 2 of them... Take nothing from MM as I am a big fan (Rossi is my favorite) but the dominant rider of 2013 was Lorenzo.. collarbone aside.... He was so fast he slowed down in Valencia to ALLOW others to catch up and get between him and MM then decided hell with it...I will just take off. You can only do that if you are the fastest in the field...Great job for MM because you have to capture the points for the title but my definition of dominating may be a little dated!!!

Unless you all consider winning the world title dominating....Nicky Hayden dominated in 2006? or Andrew Pitt in World Supersport in 2001 who won the title without winning a race? I do not think Guintoli dominated in WSBK.. Sorry...just making a point! People act as though MM came in and wipe the floor in 2013...he did dam well in 2013 and definitely exceeded ALL expectations..and managed the points with an injured defending champ who won more races than he did BUT he won the title with an overall GREAT performance period that has not been done by a rookie since 1978... the fall of this record made it seem like he dominated but he did dang good to win the title... I do not call that dominating as Lorenzo was the dominant rider in my opinion albeit injured which cost him the title!! 2014 was DOMINATED by Marc Marquez...

MotoGP » 14 new names on Red Bull Rookies entry

I am a little confused about the purpose of this championship???? It seems that more talent is pooled from the Repsol CEV as the main feeder class so where does the Redbull Rookies cup feature?.... I mean you would think that CEV feeds Redbull Rookies cup then onwards to Moto3 but CEV seems to be a direct feeder for Moto3 already so what is the purpose??? The Redbull rookies cup is a support series on the MotoGP calendar, you would think it is a higher class than CEV but it does not strike me that way... TBH I do not follow the Redbull series...maybe I need to but with Fabio Quartararo (however you spell his name..lol) coming thru from CEV...my attention is diverted to that series...

MotoGP » MotoGP Star of the Year vote: 3rd

"I though will always wonder just what his final points tally and acheivement would have been had 'Open' rules not denied him the rear tyre essential for decent race finishes at the majority of the tracks in 2014..." Denied one thing??? but given 5 other advantages and you still believe he was "denied" something..... Well since you want to discuss fair how about if they were back to factory class without ANY concessions....Correct me if I am wrong but when he was equal with other factories last year he didn't even get a podium on the Ducati. If I remember correctly Rossi got 3 podiums with Ducati WITHOUT any concessions...So I think Dovi got credit placing 3rd... Sorry but you are basically saying give Dovi more fuel, all tyres, unlimited testing and 12 instead of 5 engines and allow him to keep his factory software and I bet he could beat Yamaha and Honda......why not pitch in a head start in the race as well!!???

PS That previous post was not an attack on Dovi just the backwards thinking of fans....crying unfair not giving Dovi the harder tyre when he already have all the concessions of OPEN category... which in fact gave Ducati and Dovi the leap forward in performance they needed...often closer to the leaders than they have been for years in race condition and out qualifying them as well for a good start... PS if Ducati was denied the softer tyre but given the harder option like other factories... he would have to fight his way up the order from back of top 10 then the same fans would be complaining about him eating up his tyres to get to the front!! and not being able to finish the race because of said tyres!!

MotoGP » MotoGP Star of the Year vote: 2nd

Please remember that this pole is based on averages.... It could have gone either way!! I gave both Rossi and Marquez a score of 10... so I was not a factor in the vote because I had them even!! Both accomplished a lot and NO ONE can argue what Marc did are objective results and are in the book but it was "almost" expected....the unknown was Rossi with him questioning his own self, changing crew chiefs and giving himself 6 months...no one expected Lorenzo to have a dismal first half not after how he pretty much challenged in 2013 even after the injury.... Lorenzo lost the 2013 title because of results undoubtedly linked to the broken collar bone!! A loss is a loss nonetheless but his performance was never a question heading into 2014. Rossi on the other hand stepped up and overcame the cries of retirement from many fans persistently battled the podium positions unlike 2013 and simply finished higher than the other aliens! so 2nd or 1st in this poll is justifiable IMO....MM beat everyon

These poles are subjective not objective...each of us (fans) gave varying weight to different aspects of what makes a rider rate high or low. On effort alone, and the fact that Rea was on the Honda which we all know to be a bit long in the tooth and no other rider has done squat with...I believe Rea has earned this position in this vote although I had Sykes as second... These poles are however interesting even though the objective results (championship result) already placed them.
