MotoGP » Dovizioso sets personal best at Sepang

Codger: People are praying for Aleix to get a Works bike and how I wish Dovi would too. (a proper Works bike I mean) I might be his only fan on here but I have to say he can't do more than finish as top Ducati rider, whatever position that leaves him in. Dovi put the Tech3 bike on the podium several times so he obviously has the talent, still got his P45 though.
I like Dovi as well but we cannot forget that he had a proper bike for 3 seasons. Well at least 2 since he had to enforce his contract to hold his seat for 2011. With that said he was a podium regular so by all means I think he deserves a place on the grid. The problem I have and most racing fans have is that... on arguably the best bike/kit he was not a winner!! (well one race I guess) Hell we bust Pedrosa chops and he wins regularly!! so Dovi's stock is just not as high!! and many would argue that he does not deserve the best kit because he cannot win on it!! Many argue that Rossi does not deserve

MotoGP » Jubilant Aleix Espargaro has Open podium aim

To be honest and this is not a knock to Aleix.... but he was not underrated prior to his performance in CRT. He was rated exactly where he was during his first time in GPs.. I do not believe that in 2008/2009 that he would have done jack and squat on the Yamaha because he was not the quality rider he is today. His rough road in MGP and back to Moto2 and then into CRT built his mettle and his reputation but more importantly his confidence and his skill. Now his stock price has risen. He is more mature and skilled and now I believe he should have received the Tech 3 ride. Pol has earned it but Aleix is a more seasoned rider than Pol right now and would bring more success in the class for Tech 3 at the moment.

MotoGP » Jubilant Aleix Espargaro has Open podium aim

Cris... good notes but aso, I believe this open bike is not yet running the FTR chassis. Based on the article they are essentially using the full M1 minus fairings. Keep in mind they also have 4 liters extra fuel so they are probably running leaner mixture for power and then the softer tire not afforded the factory. What will happen on FTR chassis is still an unanswered question particularly how it will affect tire life... Now on the other hand Colin is not doing the same performance on arguably the same bike so it is obvious that he is fast and if anything it shows that the boy can be competitive if given proper equipment!! Definitely an underrated rider who has grown a lot compared to 2009.

MotoGP » Lorenzo unsettled by electronics changes

Calm down all.... This is testing. The whole idea is to sort out the issues or any issues found on the new steed!!! One fan on here is already crowning MM but it is way too early for that. Do not get me wrong, I believe MM will be the main protagonist this year as well but I am too well aware of all the possibilities!! Injury, an invigorated Pedrosa and a persistent and consistent JL. Rossi is the unknown quantity this year with all his changes and the changes to the Yamaha. Will the yamaha suit Rossi or not?...he was fast in Qatar last year! Personally, I thought he could have won that race if he hadn't tripped in the first corner. I believe VR will win a couple races this year but I am unsure about a full up title attack. Rossi is my favorite rider so I hope I am wrong about a title shot.

MotoGP » Lorenzo unsettled by electronics changes

I think we are all too hung up on one fast lap time....... This is a test! so riders can sort out their machines. They all have a lot of work and set up solutions to try in concert with the new rules and the new machines that engineer have developed over the winter. Not all winter solutions work well on track and we have seen factories go back to old frames etc. Basically we nee to chill out and just watch/appreciate the test. Usually what I look out for is the race simulations like the ones Lorenzo crippled the field with last year when he was racking up consecutive laps at or around the lap record.... I think this tells the tale because we could hear the worry in every ones voice. All respect to MM (and I despise what ifs) but I believe that had JL season gone injury free last year we would be singing a different tune. PS MM is due what he earned but JL did not let his fans down!!

MotoGP » Marquez opens up top as MotoGP testing begins

I know that we are all excited....loooong winter and all but it is too early to start crowning anyone. Anyhow good showing from Aleix Esparago. Pol will need time. Expected Bradley to be a little bit more on it but he is a slow starter anyway. Production Honda's off to a slow start but no one really got to put that bike through its paces yet with control ECU...truthfully I expect the Honda to be better mid season when every one gets data and into their stride. Pedrosa...I thought would be faster from the off based on last year etc but the next 2 days will tell the story better!! MM has been quick from the jump in every test and every practice etc so really no surprise there and he is the reigning champion!! to say the least!! Good stuff from Rossi...lets see how it pans out on Thursday..

MotoGP » Imagine... an Open MotoGP class KR-Honda

Shamarone I agree with you that the factories should not be in charge of the OPEN class by providing customer bikes. Why would Honda provide a cut rate racer capable of beating its factory machine? I do not believe they should be completely left out because for sure I believe the KR project was a superb idea. Yamaha are doing this with Forward racing this year and I think it is a good idea. It still leaves the question of would Yamaha/Honda etc provide a product, as superior, to their customer compared to their factory team? Either way the KR project was never a match for the factory (overall)..... but was good enough to win the occassional race (eventhough they didn't) and feature the podium occasionally. This can only be good as we would no longer have the only 3-4 winner every year of EVERY RACE!!! PS I can tell you who is going to win races for the next 3-5 years ...that is not racing!!!

MotoGP » Camier, Ioda to skip first Sepang MotoGP test

Come on Aprilia....and IODA... the dude is going to need all the time in the world to at least get the bike comfortable.... I say Aprilia should give the dude a full up superbike on GP rubber and go out and knock the rust off...at a minimum that will get his mind and body reacquainted with the Aprilia (feel and size) and also get his hand-eye coordination back into the swing. At minimum bring him to SBK Phillip Island test and get some feedback from him while helping him out!!
