MotoGP » Rainey talks Marquez, Rossi, Lorenzo, Pedrosa

Rainey is giving a motorcycle racers outlook... which coincidentally many avid fans and onlookers may have drawn the same conclusions so I would not say it is new insight but it certainly accredits my own views... to ensure that my thoughts have not fallen off the wagon!! Also for the critics, please remember that crash.net edits out the story and puts their own views in between the actual comments from Rainey... PS the interview was never dubbed as "in depth analysis" so just read it for what it is.. a former champion giving his opinion on the current crop...it is neither correct nor wrong.... it is opinion.

WSBK » Haslam: Feeling with Aprilia increasing lap by lap

Dark Horse for 2015 in my personal opinion. I believe he has the ability and still has a lot to show.... really felt bad for him in 2010 when Suzuki just seem to abandon him in the middle of the title fight... Let us just see how the new rules for 2015 goes and how much Aprilia is affected...would hate for Haslam to finally get a good bike only to be handicapped by the new rules.

WSBK » Haslam: Feeling with Aprilia increasing lap by lap

@ Tetley Agreed to all that. but- Biaggi is testing for Red Devils and there is talk of him returning to ride, in which case the team's focus will turn to the Italian. Also, IIRC, Leon and Max have history and don't get on too well. There is no talk of a full time ride so there is no title aspirations with Biaggi... Aprilia will use Biaggi's experience but will have to focus on their full time riders. For testing, Aprilia will take Max's input very seriously regarding development, as Leon is new to the Aprilia but Leon has tons of experience and is already noticeably fast.... I do not think any conflict will be an issue between Leon and Biaggi...Leon has the ride, Biaggi is gap filling for his own excitement and to assist with Aprilia's development... that's it...

WSBK » Biaggi to test Aprilia - might he race?

It is a hard sell to me as a fan for a champion to retire on top..... for me it means he had so much more to give... and he could retire in another year or two if he was no longer "as" competitive.....However if he were to get hurt, then of course, in retrospect, I would say he should have retired!! Should Rossi have retired after 2008 when he regained the title after 2 years or should he have continued in 2009??? Should he have retired at the end of 2013 after a weak performance on the Yamaha? 2014 says NO!! If he wins the title again in 2015 are we going to say he should have retired after the Ducati fiasco or would we say it is the greatest turn around in MotoGP history???? So in my mind champions have so much to still give and I am not quite sure I like the idea of retiring on top but I understand the reason...

WSBK » Haslam: Feeling with Aprilia increasing lap by lap

Haslam reminds me of Guintoli a bit...never the really dominant rider but ability to be up there and consistent... I think he has the same possible chance of winning the title as Guintoli did....many on here never really thought Guinters would actually win the title and that he may have been consigned to be a bridesmaid but alas...the boy did it... I hope Haslam can have the same luck and with a good bike under him he could do it!! Anyway, still have money on Tom to come good in 2015 and win the title.. Let's see how it goes... so many good choices...Davies is looking good, Rea is all the talk now, hope he continues to gel with the Ninja.. I have a little more faith in Guigliano than most so hope 2015 does him some good.

MotoGP » Moto2 ‘valid’ despite Miller’s MotoGP jump

@ rdc Good point..... it is a snowball effect... I am sure this mentality is in MotoGP as well....i.e. Give me a Repsol Honda and I will be World Champion!!! I am sure Biaggi, Barros, Dani and Dovi can attest otherwise! and I am sure that the other top riders on Honda's...like Bradl and Bautista would laugh in their faces too if they thought it was that easy.... I do not think Bautista wishes Redding any ill-will but I will bet when Redding could not go faster than his OPEN class lap time at Valencia on the Factory Honda...Alvaro was smiling in his helmet thinking "..all that talk about how bada** you would be IF you had a factory Honda...what happened there Scottie???? and you had Ohlins suspension????" I think Scotti will be fine but it is just a sign that it is not as easy as getting the bike and here comes my World Championship Title!!!!

MotoGP » EXCLUSIVE: Herve Poncharal (Moto2) - Q&A

cont'd ....failing miserably... so who is to say Moto2 should be a must.... I say it is the talent of the riders that will determine their success....regardless of which category they come from.... Sad about the Suter issue as well..... I like how he "hinted" at a certain Marc Marquez on the Suter, winning the title and also his reference to the GREAT POSSIBILITY that MM would have won the title in 2011 as well barring his eye injury in Sepang...I like Bradl but I believe MM would have won in 2011 as well...injury aside...PS I like Bradl...

MotoGP » EXCLUSIVE: Herve Poncharal (Moto2) - Q&A

Good stuff... Fair take...even if Jack is successful... Jack is still Jack and not everyone could do it but certainly this may open up the rider market if Jack is successful...other teams may be willing to take a top 5 moto3 guy who seems fast and on the verge of championship status...but normal is normal... with more experience, typically a rider will perform better and this is the hope of moto2...getting these riders on larger displacement and weight machines, racing at higher speeds on what is a prototype.... and as the top rider surfaces in this intermediate class then they are more prepared for the bigger, faster, more sophisticated world of MotoGP... where only 1 or 3 riders are selected per year to make the move... PS I love moto2 and my personal take is that the riders should go through this class but even then they could go to Motogp and fail...like Toni Elias even with all his experience and we all remember him winning the inaugural title in moto2 and came back to motoGP and

MotoGP » Ducati confirms no GP15 at Sepang I

Dam...take it easy... Ducati will have a new bike for 2015...they have been behind the curve for 4 years or more if you count Stoner's declining performance over his last 3 years with them.... so what is the big deal if they miss Sepang 1 but will be at Sepang 2 with the new machine???? Chill out...they are finalizing whatever they got going on...this is not a surprise as this was also revealed toward the end of last year..... I just want to see the bike and GiGi design philosophy.... that is what I am excited about... the performance will come later, it is a new bike...no one on here can possibly expect it to win right out the box...I will be satisfied with potential!!!! PS 2007 was sheer luck and they (with Casey!!!) caught Honda and Yamaha snoozing...that will not happen again...

MotoGP » Amazing Marquez ‘rides MotoGP like dirt track’

PorkPie: I wonder if I would have put Jorge up there with the very best, adding to the list of Mick, Vale, Casey, Marc... it's a hard one. I think Jorge may fall into the great, but not a master category. Or maybe he'll prove me wrong in the next few years. I can't think of anybody I'd add to the group?
Hell YES!! DOUBLE WORLD CHAMP and runner up in 3 other seasons, 4th in rookie year with 3rd his worst finish since his rookie year....not to mention he is not done yet..still one of the top riders in this championship!! He could win the title next year! So yes I would say he is among the very best NOT the greatest but may still get there, he has time!
