so light??? there was only 3 kilos between seb and your number two driver, with only 7 kilos less than your number one driver. hardly an earthshattering difference. are you getting worried that your advantage has disappeared???

mudplugger, what is wrong with you?? you dont like my comments or opinions?? well then, dont read them, but there is no need for abuse. if you truly read my comments, you will see that i am only stating facts. further if you look back a day or two, you will see that i was defending the wheatcrofts (ask andrew) and was actually saying that i hoped that donington would continue as a race track.

sunny, you are very quiet these days! the question of breach of contract is important. but i think that every driver who is reaching the end of their contract, is in touch with other teams, half way through the season. they would be mad if they werent. in :D buttons case, i think that he was playing mind games, but made the wrong decision himself. it appears that by doing so, he will lose money, by way of a lower salary. he visited brackley yesterday to say farewell, so presumably he will not be in any further dealings with brawn, but cannot undertake any mclaren promos until new year.

is the bbc website always truthful? legally there is an administration in charge with sorting out dvll. he has to find a buyer for the assets/liabilities of dvll. it is all very well, speculatung that they hope to find a buyer, but as nobody was prepared before, to fund the changes neccessary, it is difficult to believe that anyone would now want to buy out dvll, unless bernie felt he could do it at a knock down price. even if someone did buy out dvll at this late stage, it is now impossible for the work to be carried out in time, and the cut-off date has long since passed. silverstone will get the british gp.

mark, good point about the length of contract. but didnt donington sign up, originally , to a 7 year (or was it 10)deal, and then bernie extended it, despite all the pundits saying that the event in donington just wasnt on?

andrew, i asked a question about that earlier as i am not sure of the dates of change. but the fact that mclaren also have to find the cash to buy out the merc shares, will also be a drain on their resources. despite the merc injection in brawn, i dont think that they will be as strong as this year, unless they can "discover" another loophole in the regs, that would give them a distinct advantage. maybe an airbrake, as on the silver arrows of old???

andrew, proton are NOT "part of the conglomerate". the owners of the "Lotus" team are malaysian businessmen, but NOT proton. proton have joined as partial sponsors. that is all. and i am not sure that the chapmans have given their ok to the use of the name. the last i heard, they were considering legal action, but they may have changed their mind. has anyone got any proof of this??

daveda. from my reading of the situation, "lotus" was set up, with no historical link to the original team lotus, or to proton, owner of the lotus brand. however, in view of the malaysian input, proton have decided to be one of the sponsors of "lotus" no doubt hoping that any success wil rub off on their lotus cars. but i still wonder how the chapman family are treating this, as they previously pointed out that THEY own the rights to the name lotus, in f1. it would be interesting to know if they are now happy with the new team.

2pac.simple economics. as johnson has already pointed out, mclaren will be a customer team, meaning they will have to buy engines as opposed to getting 80m (i think) from merc. also they are losing a major sponsor, santander. this will knock a huge hole in their finances, unless they find a new large sponsor, to make up the shortfall.

is this the final, final, final, final extension?? and as for bernies recession proof 7% per year, i reckon he is banking on the economy NOT to recover, just so he can make more cash than anyone else!
