F1 » Mateschitz: F1 'not racing any more'

sunny. come on! the designated compounds were first provided in january, together with an undisclosed compound. at that time, all cars had been completed. the construction tyre supplied last year was actually a two thirds scale, so that teams could computerise the qualities of stiffer sidewalls. as testing was prohibited, how on earth could the designers have actual access of compounds?? and already this year, the compounds have been changed once and are now being changed again. the ONLY knowledge of compounds for the teams, were the compounds used last year, which were far better than this years compounds. contd

sunny. shame on you mentioning brawn and newey in the same breath! newey is a designer, brawn is NOT a designer, he is a team principal! and you say the goalposts should not be moved? well, they were last ear, several times, and they were this year, all to handicap the bulls! you cannot have it both ways.

sp3 (interesting choice of name....remember the dunlop sp3?) the problem is that pirelli exceeded the brief. this has now been confirmed by bernie and even pirelli themselves yes, they were asked to make a tyre that would last at least 20 laps, to ensure that there were 2 pitstops, but the compound they used, saw the tyres going off after 2-3 laps. that is why cars were trying to preserve their tyres by driving slowly. pirelli have now altered their compounds, not due to any one team objecting, but due to the fact that the tyres were not performing as required. i believe that the fia have been involved due to the public outcry, and not before time! the teams were not provided with the compounds being used, for testing, so NO team was able to design a car specifically for the current tyre.

pete. you seem to have an obsession with me! no, I am not an apologist for red bull or for any other team. I have consistently criticised the tyre situation, even when rbr were winning. and note that I do not go into the realm of personal insults of any team owner. rob. didi does inded turn up at races, maybe not all, but most of them. that is his prerogative and has no bearing anything. but as an owner, he has every right to express his opinion. if ron dennis made the same comment, would you be equally dismissive?

walrus. agree fully, but, it is conenient for some to blame rbr, but there are others complaining, and not just teams. didi finally came out and said it wasnt racing, and i fully agree. so if it has taken his comment to finally make pirelli take notice, then we may have a lot to be thankful for. pete. go to pitpass and have a look at the front tyre of perez car!!! mclaren are also complaining about the tyres.

firestorm. as long as there is a pole for the fastest car, then that car running into the distance will usually happen. it has been the same since racing began! the fastest car gets pole, and the fastest car wins. when that happens, it is up to the others to catch up. bringing in unreliable tyres was done to try and stop that happening. instead it has messed up f1. now, if the tyres are not changed, and Ferrari/Alonso win every race for the rest of the season, there will be the usual cries of favouritism, and demands for the tyres to be changed etc etc incidentally, I am a diehard Ferrari follower but also a diehard f1 fan. I want to see a level playing field.

walrus. I don't know if you are being critical of rbr or not, or just glad that the situation I being normalised for all. but it is strange that the rbr haters keep blaming rbr for complaining, when it is nearly every true racing fan , team, driver etc who is annoyed at the current tyre mess. I want to see racing, devoid of all these stupid orders to drive slowly to preserve tyres!
