F1 » Is F1 2015 louder? Drivers, teams disagree…

its funny how those new to the sport can go on about the sound. first of all, it is the RACING that is important. secondly we used to have 1.5 l engines, some 4s some 12s! and they all gave different sounds. ten there were the h16, v 12, etc which gave a really shrill sound. then along came the cossie v 8, and there were complaints that the v8 was too deep and quiet. then came the turbos with an even different sound. then we went through v 10 and v 8 again, and the sound reduced and deepened. now suddenly, as we are back to turbos, there are those with short memories who bemoan the v8s. i prefer the 12 and 16 s. but really, i dont give a rats ass, as long a there is RACING.

F1 » F1: Ricciardo hits Top Gear with lap record

izy. webbers and lulus second times were not in the wet! have a look at your own listing! but as others have pointed out , the times are totally irrelevant. some have driven on different tyres, some on worn tyres etc etc. and yes, driving a rhd car is different for a person brought up driving a lhd car. put ricciardo , webber or lulu in a lhd car and see if they could mimic their rhd times. i must admit that i drive lhd cars here as well as rhd cars on the continent, and even though it is natural for me, there is still a difference

F1 » Hamilton unconcerned by Ferrari F1 test pace

RS3: Richard, George and Sunny are you guys saying W06 is slow?
where did i say its slow? but i do feel that there is a false perception that others have not been able to catch up somewhat. but it is not just a top speed that wins a race, especially as gearing for the sason is now fixed. you could find that merc may be fast at high speed circuits, but other teams have gearing which will see them able to post faster times on more twisty circuits. this also ties in with my belief that the merc chassis is NOT the best on the track. but really, everything is just pure speculation at this point.

F1 » McLaren-Honda will 'reproduce' 80's F1 success - Dennis

ProfessorX: convenient rumors and speculation rich. I guess rumors are all you have when you can't even run race distance.
well nutty. where the rumours are coming from , is a normally well informed source. but they do make sense. can you possibly add anything meaningfull? and as for running the distance? at this stage in development last year, red bull hadnt run any distance, yet look at how they did. dismissing anything at this stage is just pointless

F1 » Hamilton unconcerned by Ferrari F1 test pace

ProfessorX: maybe Ferrari have opted to go with a more powerful motor that sucks on fuel economy. It's all about optimization, it could be that Ferrari are a second a lap faster but blow through their tires and fuel too quickly this year but Mercedes with superior grip and fuel economy wins by a quarter of a mile.
nutty, do you know what tripe is? why on earth would any manufacturer use an engine that could not go the distance? and how on earth do you come up with the conclusion that merc has or will have superior grip? these are all new cars, so unless you are gazing at one of your crystal balls, making such weird assertions are pretty silly.
