F1 » Rosberg on pole after Hamilton shunt

googol. you do realise that this was qualifying and not the race? ricciardo is known for qualifying well. but if you watched the long runs in fp2, simulating race conditions, vettel was comfortably faster than ricciardo, and was consistent. vettel has been hampered with problems both in qualifying and in races, and provided he does not suffer from strategy foul-ups or mechanical woes, you could well see a different result tomorrow. kimi and jenson have also been outqualified by their team mates, but does that make them less worthy ? and i dont see you talking about them. oh wait...dr is australian, and you are..?????

F1 » Hamilton crashes out of Q1

janheim. i agree with you about track limits. i have always thought it ridiculous that a track is formed and then provided with low kerbs and run-off areas. but these are there for safety. they used to use gravel traps everywhere, to prevent going off track, but these were then classed as dangerous on corners, as it caused cars to flip. astro turf does provide a slowing surface, and if a car is going sideways, it still allows it to slide without (hopefully? flipping. for consistency, yes, running wide at any corner should be stopped, but charlie in his wisdom, decided to not do it on this ocassion, after reviewing lap times. i suppose it will only be a matter of time, before sensors are placed on the kerbs, to identify offenders.

F1 » 'My dear team-mate boxed without warning' - Rosberg

snake. of course they had understeer, but that was due to fwd. nothing to do with hydrolastic! anyway, it is quite easy to make a mini or 100 oversteer. tyre pressures and handbrake! and yes, i had considerable success. got the trophies to prove it. and do you not remember the outstanding success of the mini and 1800? however, we are talking about fric. it is similar yet different to hydrolastic

dougren. hydrolastic was a great suspension. i dont know why you say they were slewing all over the place, because it gave the likes of the 1100, 1300 and 1800 fantastic road holding. and i know, i rallied all three , and one of them in an intenational rally. the mini was not so good because of its short wheebase. and whilst it kept the car level over bumps, it was not used to influence aero, under braking. apart from that, fric wont affect the handling of the car, only the aero. if there is a slightly different feel, i think that the professional drivers will be able to manage. and what is wrong with them "sawing " at the wheel? wont that add to the spectacle, and maybe show the skill of the driver?

F1 » Vettel 'hopes' FRIC ban could bring field closer to Mercedes

rob. well, all cars SHOULD have an equal chance of winning. it should then be up to the best DRIVER to make sure he wins. an interesting comaprison (thanks to commo) would be to v8 supercars. there you can have different bodies, different engines, including engine layout etc, but the criteria is that the power at the rear wheels is restricted to 650 bhp. close racing, but different ways of obtaining it. so why not have f1 with free engines up to 3l (for example), any layout but with the power limited to say, 900bhp, AT THE WHEELS. different teams will have different solutions, but no one would have an overall advantage.
