F1 » Pirelli blames Ferrari, dismisses Rosberg incident link

ProfessorX: there have been blow outs before at this circuit, I remember them changing up the curbs not too long ago because people were cutting the insides of their tires running over the curbs. ps. you you can't hold Pirelli to the 40 lap claim when your busting track limits left and right.
nutty. do you know what a curb is? it is a chain that goes from one side of the bit in a horses mouth, to the other. so running over the curbs would be quite difficult. but assuming that you were intending to talk about the kerbs, well, all cars were taking exactly the same lines and the kerbs had actually been flattened to allow them to do so. pirelli do have some idea of how the tyres are going to be used and i reckon that they have enough savvy to know how they would be used. but i suppose, henry ford is to blame. or maybe even henry dunlop?

vettel is right to be angry. his tyres were holding up well with no signs of blistering and he was doing a good job preserving them. not in this race, but in other recent races, cars have gone onto the same tyre within 10 laps of the start and the tyres have held up. in this case, the tyre actually delaminated before blowing without any outward signs. it was also confirmed from the pits that the tyres were looking good..

F1 » Arrivabene: One-stop strategy was always Plan A

andrew cree. not quite true. they did not say that the tyres would only last for short period of time. what they said was that timewise , and getting the best out of their tyres without tehm falling off a cliff, then 2-3 stops could be the most advantageous. but they did say that the tyre would last 40 laps, albeit with not-optimum performance. and if you read arrivabenes comments, 2 hours before the start, it was agreed with pirelli that it was good for a one stopper. seb stretched out his option tyres so as to keep well within the pirelli tyre capabilities.
