I think that the fact that these quotes came from 'The Sun' newspaper(?) says it all really. Who believes anything they read in there?
(Sorry you lot obviously do)

Whitmarsh: Title to be decided by mistakes.
Sorry Savas, I stand corrected. You are right 2x WDC in a Benneton. and fabulous to watch him in the rain.

piercarlogassolini You cannot compare Hamilton to Schumi or Senna, different eras, different cars, different drivers. Was Schumi a better driver than say Fangio? no body can compare them, they were both the best in their time. Senna, as you said, was on a different level, he proved his worth in different cars. (Schumi was fantastic - IN A FERRARI) Hamilton has only driven a McLaren in F1.Nobody knows how good he would be in a different car.

@ Sunny, I think that was the point I was trying to make (nearly)... Hamilton is so much better than (most of) the rest IN THE McLAREN. whether he would be as good in another car I don't know. He effectively wiped the floor with Kimi in the Ferrari and Heikki SHOULD have won from 2nd. What does it prove? ONLY that Lewis is better than Heikki and that the McLaren is better than the Ferrari. All debatable of course.

Barry Wilkinson. Stop it. I, for one, am a great believer in the conspiracy theory that the FIA are (shall we say) assisting Ferrari to win this years (and as many other years as they can) WDC, but even I'm getting bored with it. Don't start stirring it again. As I understand the procedure, the selection process for weighing cars is a random choice made by a computer. Sometimes they get weighed twice, sometimes not at all.

Sunny, "but i dont agree that LH have any superior driving skills in the wet to others" I think you're wrong - with the current crop of drivers - Hamilton is one of the best if not THE best in the wet in that McLaren. problem is that Lewis has not driven another F1 car, that makes it impossible to tell whether it is the driver or the car. On the other hand Heikki didn't get the best out of his McLaren on sunday which seems to point more towards the driver

Whoooops!!!! Sounds like McLaren are going to be in trouble again then, unless they really have learned something from last year - and after the tyre choices at Monza I don''t think they have. - Last years championship was decided the same way. McLaren (and Lewis) making mistakes with tyre choices, strategies and some of Lewis''s driving errors. We''ll see what happens.

McLaren: Heikki has no reason to be disappointed.
3 agree.
3 disagree.
Without taking anything away from Vettel after such a brilliant drive in the bad conditions. Heiki should feel disappointed / embarrassed I would suggest that most other drivers and definitely the top 5 - Kimi, Felipe, Lewis, Fernando, Kubica - would have walked that race from 2nd on the grid in this years McLaren.

Rivals slate Hamilton's F1 driving standards.

@rob. Ok i''ve hit the agree button. i''ll accept 50%, of your last post. the part about numbers making money I won''t accept that so called ''risky passes'' are not what gets a driver recognised (in the lower formulae).... team bosses are looking for drivers who are willing to TRY to pass each other. not for drivers who ''consistently'' settle for 3rd, 4th or 5th..

Hamilton: I deserve to win 2008 F1 title.
1 agrees.
@jigger80.....10 poles in 31 starts doesn''t seem like messing up every weekend to me. Lewis proved at Monza that at least HE can overtake when he needs to not wait for the pitstop pass like a lot of them @Ferret. I remember, vaguely, seeing the late James Hunt. back in the days when the drivers DID put their lives on the line for the thrill of it, not for $20-30 million pay checks. they didn''t worry about passing in those days. the retainers have ruined it. they get paid win or lose and if I was being paid that amount i'd be happy for ONE year in the top flight (without having to pass all year)

@Rob Teams are run by MONEY..... MOST (Note capitals) of the drivers while they are in the lower formulae are after the BIG drive, when they get it they do not want to risk themselves by 50/50 overtakes, the same moves they made to get noticed in the first place. strategy dictates that they go round and round, but I suggest that BOTH Ferraris, Both McLarens, in fact both cars in ALL teams have the same 'optimum' speed, the rest is down to the driver
