Rus the Bus,

Dennis has confirmed that the team ADVISED LH OF THE RED LIGHT.

He SHOULD have seen the light.
He SHOULD have seen TWO large-as-life F1 cars stopped at the end of the lane.
He SHOULD have listened when his team told him the light was red.
and...
He SHOULD have offered a genuine apology the way KR did to Sutil in Monaco.

But I guess if you call it the way it is on this board, you get accused of being a hater.

(contd)..... In '00, Mika was a 2xWDC, but he and DC still competed on even terms. Macca has always had an equal driver policy. FA came into the team knowing this full well, and he probably accepted it because he thought a rookie wouldn't be able to compete with him anyway. To his dismay, the rookie competed, and then FA threw a hissy fit, demanded #1 status, and was told to shove it where the sun don't shine. THAT is where everything went downhill for Macca. Whether having a #1 policy is better or worse is not the point. The point is that being a WDC winner doesnt EARN you the right to step over your teammate. FA should have done his talking on the track, and not snitched on his team.

F1rules, 1. FA has not "earned the right", as you so claim, to do anything! Being a 2xWDC comes with certain expectations, and those are that you should be able to beat your rookie teammate on equal terms. He should have established a clear advantage over LH and then the team would have naturally and logically swung behind as a matter of pragmatism. He wanted that dominance to be his by right. Too bad. 2. "FA caused Schu's retirement"?? MS retired when he wanted to, on his own terms. I never liked the guy, but he was a brilliant driver who relished a challenge. You really believe that he quit because FA was sharing the spotlight with him? Good grief man, are you actually saying this???

Andy, normally I'd agree with you. But consider this - Kimi has never been one to sling bull$h1t anyone's way. The guy's a straight shooter. If he says that they could have easily gone faster, I'd be inclined to accept what he's saying at face value on this occasion. Consider this - maybe KR was taking it easy, but Massa was pushing harder. KR knew he had Massa in between him and Hamilton, so if LH got past Massa, KR would have upped the ante and the pace.

I have nothing but sympathy for SA, and would like them to stay on the grid, but Davidson is completely out of line. If SA can't meet a certain standard of performance, then they shouldn't be in F1. This means that if they're being lapped, both the car and the driver need to be capable enough to get out of the way and not impede someone coming around to lap them. Davidson held up Kimi TWICE. Claiming that the car is vibrating too much to look in the mirrors is inexcusable and sets a bad precedent. His hard luck story may be true, but that doesn't change the facts. They need to get their act together or get out. Personally, I hope they stay but they need to improve their racecraft.

I agree with you, Lex. Massa buckles under pressure. I remember posting in another thread a month or so ago that he's not up to the mark when it comes to going wheel-to-wheel racing with another top driver in a comparable car. MB, I don't agree with your post. Ferrari could have pushed much harder if they wanted to. They stayed *just* as far ahead as they needed to, but if LH started to close the gap, they would have pulled away. Robert is right when he says the ferrari had performance in reserve.

No way, MB. The Ferraris stayed tantalizingly within reach of him for the simple reason that they didn't want to go any faster. They stayed between 2-5 seconds in front of him, but it might as well have been 30 seconds... he couldn't close up to Massa. Both the Ferraris could have gone faster if they wanted to, and don't forget the SCs artificially bunched up the field twice. Robert has a better opinion, in my book. The Ferraris have the edge, and only went as fast as they needed to, but LH had the pedal to the floor. If the Ferraris had done the same thing, they would have pulled away into the distance.

"During the second and third stints, he was as quick as the Ferraris and able to catch up, but trying to pass a rival car at the Circuit de Catalunya is another matter altogether." Is he serious?? He's actually implying that if they were racing on a track with overtaking opportunities that Lewis could have challenged the Ferraris for 1st and 2nd?? What a complete joke....

Sorry HAMILTRON, but I agree with Reno. RK has pretty much NH this season. He qualifies better and races with greater pace than Nick. I'd love to see NH bounce back, though. I think he's steady and consistent, but he doesn't have that ability to be blindingly quick - something guys like KR, FA, LH and RK have. As a sidenote, I've come to believe that if you give Lewis a quick car, then he's as good as anyone. If the car is even slightly below par, his performance falls away. THAT is the difference between him and say... KR or FA. Those guys could take a sub-par car and wring every ounce of pace out of it, make it punch above it's weight. I dont think LH can do that yet...

James Hunt, don't waste your breath. There are people on this board who have their head so firmly up FA's a.$$ for so long that they don't remember what daylight looks like. Kimi is widely regarded by pretty much everybody in the F1 circus as one of the top two or three drivers in F1, if not the best. He's been criticized in the past for his show-up-and-drive attitude, but he's addressed that in the last couple of years - the guy now tests as much as anyone. He and FA are the two most complete driver packages on the circuit today, but FA is a high-maintenance primadonna who brings baggage to the table that Ferrari doesn't need as long as they've got Kimi.
