Zeitung - I see your not letting the truth get in the way of your theory!
Glock was on slicks FACT
Trulli was on slicks FACT
Hamilton on intermediates FACT
it was raining FACT
in the first sector alone (a short sector) Vettel and Hamilton were 5 secs faster than Glock FACT
They took even more time in the middle sector (twice as long in time in the dry and more twisty) FACT
Hamilton passed him into last real turn on the circuit FACT
from that point onwards Glock lost the best part of a further 6 seconds FACT
you can see him with no grip out of the corner on tv FACT
Glocks lap time was actually faster than that of Trullis in same car on same tyres FACT!
now go paint by numbers or something!

Well deserved, I agree with you to an extent Morgue, Dovi showed that over a season his method was the better approach but wasnt it good to see Lorenzo come in all guns blazing!? with regards to courage or stupidity... i'd go with courage, stupidty would be to get on the bike without a clue of what you are doing and hurt yourself, he came off from just trying to gain that extra bit, open the throttle that tenth of a second earlier and he came unstuck. When you knwo the consequences and still push for that bit extra is more courage than stupidty! which is why, although im not a fan, i like the fact stoner always pushes even when he has a lead like brno and misano he was still pushing!

Phillip Island MotoGP test times - Friday.

I am pretty neutral on the Hopper vs West topic. Hopper outscored West over the season despite his injuries etc. He had a stronger case to stay than West. Plus he probably had a stronger contract in place which would have made getting rid of him more difficult. I think they probably made the right choice. Hopper does need to sort himself out, a training plan would be a good start so he no longer needs maternity leathers
I think West will put in some good finishes in 2009 and maybe he will return to MotoGP in the future.

Rossi edges Pedrosa as 2008 ends.

Bob, I don't think the wall is necessary. I didnt criticise Honda for it either. However, previously Rossi has not had the competition he faces next year. Stoner will be back stronger than this season I think, throw Jorge and Dani into the mix and we have a big title fight. Even if it achieves nothing more than a bit of a boost thinking his team is working better then that may help enough. As i said, i dont see the point in it myself but a huge amount of mental preparation goes on within the riders head so whatever makes them feel that bit more confident is what they will do, no matter who the rider is.

FIRST PICS: Interim 2009 F1 car.
If anything that car is less "slippery" than the previous years and as the car will still be punching a big hole (probably bigger now) in the air overtaking on the straights will not be sacrificed. So how many pints before you would drive that car?!

layton - I am no in total diagreement with Morgue or indeed yourself, I would love to see them have no regard for fuel consumption or tyre wear (come forward Mr Hayden!) but it is more of a challenge to build something better than the next guy has if you are both working within the same set of parameters as opposed to, what could be for them guys, almost endless resources! Also to Yamaha or Ducati or Honda the team and manufacturer championships are as important if not more so than the rider championship! it proves they have built a better bike than the other teams... As I said, all in all im not in total diagreement but I think fuel/tyre restrictions pose a better challenge to the teams.

Fair point Morgue, I agree that pnuematic valves are unlikely to make an impact on the road but I still believe restricting fuel will cause manufacturers to built better engines which is what the idea of a prototype class is. For a similar reason I also do not object the single tyre rule as it now means the guys build bikes around tyres instead of tyres around bikes, although it has removed the tyre competition. I suppose if fuel was not restricted they would still develop the bikes on a similar cost vs gain basis, Fuel consumption vs size of tank/weight of carrying the extra fuel/balance of the bike.

Button: I'd have won F1 title in Lewis' car.
5 agree.
d - you're a ***** you know none of us, I prefer Hamilton to Button mainly because I have followed Hamiltons career since he was in karts like most people involved in motorsport have done, especially those who competed against him at various levels. Button is a good driver, he made it to F1 and has stayed there, but he doesn't seem to have the fight like the consistant front runners have. However, I wouldn't mind his salary and place in Monte Carlo!

Morgue - Some very good points. I do however disagree with the statement "...the fuel consumption now plays such a dominant role, it is the ceiling for development." Fuel consumption does play a dominant role but I think that restrictions on fuel allow for greater development. Getting more from less. The engine/package that can go as fast if not faster than the other engines over race distance and use less fuel is a much better engine/package.
