MotoGP » Lorenzo's MotoGP future still undecided

RawDawg - I am not saying Rossi doesn't get some priority as he is the nubmer 1 in the team. However, surely with your examples Lorenzo would have his own engineers to solve problems with his bike ,his own mechanics, his own data logging specialist and his own race engineer. Can you see a motogp team queing up to use one laptop for their data logging? I believe being the number 1 rider will have its advantages for Rossi, I personally dont know what they are (maybe first refusal on new components) but I also think Lorenzo will have his own team for the examples you mentioned.

MotoGP » Rossi ties Stoner as top 800cc race winner.

Dornas Goat... Between Rossi and Jerry Burgess he rarely has to start a race on a bad bike! They work together incredibly well and have always made good bikes even if they started with a bad bike! See Rossi's move to Yamaha! At the end of the day why would he want to race on a bad bike? I dont take anything from NH or CS, I believe Ducati had a stronger bike/tyre package in 2007 but surely that is the point of this sport for the teams? to build the best bike! And I beleive Rossi had a fair amount of bad luck in 2006 but he has also had his share of the good luck. Both NH and CS turned up each race and collected, in total, more points than anyone else!

MotoGP » Lorenzo's MotoGP future still undecided

"but the point is how much do they really want me?"... no, the point is does Jorge want money or titles! I really like Jorge and think hes a great rider but im not sure going to Ducati is the correct thing to do at this stage of his career. I know its a common comparison but it is the benchmark so, look at Rossi and his move to Yamaha. He already had a 125 title,a 250 title, multiple MotoGP titles on 2 varieties of engine. A move for just for money is not worth it. Lets face it hes not hard up for someone in their early twenties! Concentrate on winning championships and Yamaha currently is the place to do this.

MotoGP » Engine rule to cut MotoGP celebrations

Well its actually only 1.5 weekends per engine as they have a spare bike. They can't be expected to change the lump every time they want to change bikes (imagine a dry/wet race! haha) Still a stupid rule... as has been said its a prototype class let them be prototypes! the idea of them should be to perform at maximum and run out of fuel and rubber as they cross the line! Anything that is left at the end of the race means they could have gone faster and it is therefore wasted!

WSBK » Crutchlow reveals WSBK, Moto2 options

CubikRube... I think Lorenzo is the cork in the bottle at the moment closely followed by Spies. I think that WSB is the safe bet for Crutchlow... but look at it another way. He could go into Moto2 and get a good team/bike or atleast equal and shine? Moto2 would be make or break whereas WSB would be safe for him. Still, hes done the job to put himself in a good position and lets hope he gets the WSS title he deserves!

MotoGP » MotoGP rookie rule, engine limit clarified.

with regards to the rookie rule. One good thing is that the riders cut their teeth and dont get spoiled early on. Another good thing for the teams is a fast rider will often bring good sponsorship with him. That means more money for the team, which can help them increase performance. Now come the end of the season, if they have a strong result even if they lose their star rider they may well gain the next superstar from 250/moto2 but still managed to retain some sponsorship due to their previous years results. the next big rider brings big money and so forth! It could be a bit of a long shot but it may close the gap between factory and satellite teams.

MotoGP » MotoGP rookie rule, engine limit clarified.

I am not convinced by the engines rule... the idea is it is a prototype class! let them make the best they can on a race by race basis. Will it get to a point where a rider is out of the points so just pulls in to save the motor for the next race...? Ok maybe that wouldnt make a massive difference with only 17 bikes but imagine if Rossi/Stoner/Lorenzo have a first corner incident are they likely to bother with a fightback from last place if they think it will stress the engine too much for the next round? Maybe Rossi's win at the slowest speed theory will be more widely adopted!

MotoGP » Dovizioso takes debut victory at Donington.

Brilliant from Dovi... the guy is talented and he handled the conditions the best. Obviously a very strong ride from all the podium finishers. Great for Rossi to get back a few places after his crash, always tough to lead a race in these conditions which also shows again how well Dovi did. Edwards was a demon once he got going! Brave call from the Ducati boys... the wrong one obvioulsy but fair play to them for having the cojones to have a gamble. If it had worked we would have been saying how brilliant they were! Although, anyone in motorsport knows you 9 times out of 10 follow your closest competitors at this stage in the season not go the polar opposite!
