I don't think Colin is the brightest bulb in the room. His comment about him being a right-wing extremist pretty well rips it for me. Just what the world needs more of, an extremist with a .50 caliber.

I do believe something is going to happen. F1 will no longer be as we know it. I would hate to see either a budget cap, with its two tier series or a breakaway series. Neither is a good option. Tony George f@cked up open wheel racing in the U.S. It appears Mosley and Co. are trying to do the same to F1.

If you think Max Mosley's concern is about F1 team budgets you are shamefully naive. Max and BE fear that unless there is a cap, the teams will demand more of the F1 profits, i.e, less monies for ol' Max and Bernie.

Excellent point, Bladeo. When the IRL replaced CART as the premier open wheel series in the U.S., top echelon sponsors stayed away from the IRL like it had the clap. Cheap begets cheap. A less than first rate series will have less than first rate sponsors. I.e., less sponsor monies.

MD, So I take it you support the FIA, no matter what? I do believe you would really like Nascar then.

quote: "Bye, Don't let the doorknob hit you in the arrse." That was the exact sentiment when the IRL was formed by the defection of some CART teams. Now look what has become of American open wheel racing. I don't even know who won the Indy 500 this year, nor do I care.

quote: "i really wish i lived 40 yrs earlier and witnessed PURE RACING back then.." I did and it was. I've been attending motorsports event for fifty-four years. Unfortunately, it's been the proliferation of corporate sponsors that have ruined racing, but you can't put the genie back in the bottle. Back in the day, money came from wealthy sportsmen and/or automotive industry. Bankers and bean counters are not good for racing.

I really wonder what Mosley's real agenda is with the proposed $40 million budget cap. His proclamation of reducing costs is totally unrealistic, besides the little problem of not being able to enforce the cap. There are so many ways to circumvent the cap it's much sieve like. I always thought raising team funding was part of racing's competition. You can bet Max has got something in mind rather than reducing the money strain on F1 teams. Maybe he surmises that the money not spent by the teams will be pocketed by he and B.E.

Miller: Nice track. Too bad it's in Utah. There is nothing around it but more nothing.

I think Jake is a damn good rider, but his confidence has been rather ruffled from running against the juggernaut of Team Yoshimura Suzuki.
