I've always rated JV highly, I think it was a shame he got bogged down in the BAR team and then dropped by BMW, i also think that if he were in a competitive car he could show some of the young "stars" exactly how its done. He would be a great addition to the F1 paddock, which has become far to pc in recent years imo.

Unfortunately I cant see him getting a top drive in F1, which i think is a terrible shame.

Sports cars is the way forward for JV, I hope he gets a factory drive for next year because he thoroughly deserves it.

I agree with james. if it had been plato or turner punting off a vauxhall there would be an uproar. Good racing throughout the weekend though. Bring on the next round.

scary, you do realise that the Uk is much smaller than the US?? Unless one is branded the european GP then two races in the UK is never going to happen. As for whats wrong with donnington....well to put it short its a long long way behind the standards that silverstone meets today, let alone the expectations of bernie ecclestone both in terms of facilities at the circuit and infrastructure surrounding the circuit...access is terrible. More to that as tilke upgrades it its is going to loose all its character, it will probably be widened and all the gravel traps will be replaced with tarmac. As for the grandstands they will all be moved back to accommodate the new mile wide run off areas.

As for an answer to matt, as a brit i personally think we need the British GP, we don't have as many other top line racing series over here. ok we have BTCC (which is alright), ELMS (which isn't as popular or closely contested as ALMS) and one round of DTM but none of those are promoted as, well, grandly as F1. Maybe we could do without F1 and maybe A1GP could step into its place but i'm not sure how the average joe public that do get involved on the GP weekend would react to these different series.

AxisOfEvil, since when has BE listened to the fans. Maybe if his bank manager is a fan of silverstone he may listen, but i doubt it. There was another thread where someone suggested the move to donnington was just a sly way of removing the GP from the calender and i'm beginning to agree. Donnington has a year to get it up to the dwarf's standards and i know that civils work, and more to the point civils work in the uk doesn't happen that quickly.

Lewis did good, he held his composure when other drivers lost their heads, he's obviously a talented guy he's just gotta try and stay consistent and string the results together. Good drives from NH and Barrichello, though i can't help but wonder what would have happened if honda's refueling rig had of worked properly.I also can't wok out where the other teams strategists were when they saw RB driving 10 seconds a lap quicker than anyone else...maybe they weren't watching. Massa was terrible, it reminded me of the British GP a few years ago when he was in a sauber and is p**s poor from someone who is rated so highly, my mum drives better in the wet than that!

ok so whats going to happen. millions of pounds spent on new facilities (good), millions of pounds spent on removing and re-tarmaking of gravel traps (bad) millions of pounds spent on changing the circuit for F1, this will include several thousands of pounds making it wider and several more thousands adding hairpins designed by the moron that is tilke. so in total they ruin another great track. Silverstone doesn't need as much work, has already got planning permission and imo is better for F1 (not slating donnington but its more of a bike place). As for better viewing, surely thats going to be ruined when they modify the track.

for gods sake, enough with the hamilton/alonso argument already. This article is about 2 things. 1.ferrari (possibly alonso's next employees) expected him to do better than he did in the race itsself, yes he has a dog of a car and renault probably didnt help with the strategy, but i for one expected him to finish ahead of piquet at the least. 2.Renault engineers themselves don't think he's putting the effort in, and tbh i don't blame them. They must feel a little dejected being mooted as just a stop off for alonso whilst he waits for ferrari to have a seat spare. I'm not an alonso fan, but i hope he has the decency to stay at renault untill their car is improved, i think he owes them that.

Mark, completly correct. Children children, seriously get over yourself, in all the threads I've commented on rich ard has only defended his point of view (which is necessary for any debate). These are usually well informed and, although i don't always agree, never biased against McLaren or LH. It just happens they have said/done some very stupid things recently. This thread is about a ridiculous comment by RD, we aren't McLaren bashing, we're just voicing our opinion. As i have said before, I am not a "rich ard-ette" as you say, I am just a guy with an opinion which is similar to his. if you cannot contribute to the debate please be my guest and don't comment on here anymore. thank you.

I don't think they mind a few seconds (say 1 or 2) either side of 3 30 but its when you have a car constantly lapping 3 21s throughout the race. The problem is with the competition, and therefore development rates, of audi and peugeot. i remember 2001 where everyone was amazed at the pace of the R8 because it did a 3 29 in qualifying, and that was on the old layout. I think the only option is to separate the diesels into their own class and impose aerodynamic and/or air restrictor restrictions. Having said that i've heard that audi may not bring the R10 back to le mans.
