MotoGP » Casey Stoner: I’ll be at Valencia

Stoner totally reminds me of Senna. Both considered one of the best ever, incredibly fast but neither had the most titles. Both hated the politics and the technology that took away the skill of the racer. They just wanted to race. Neither were liked by many of the average fans. Both careers ended, one tragically, in their prime. To me they will always be great champions who's skill is to be admired and respected. Hopefully the last race will be a good one, the last time we'll see the top 3 fighting on track. A fight for 5th too. I'll be pulling for Rossi to finish strong going into next year.

MotoGP » Lorenzo: Stoner most talented I have seen

While I totally respect Lorenzo's opinion and he's not the only motogp rider to say Stoner is the best they've ever seen, but it would be impossible to say he is the fastest or best ever. Sorry, but world title count doesn't tell the whole story. I do believe he is in the conversation for sure. For me, Stoner is the only rider that I could watch, riding by himself on track, and be awestruck by what he can do on a bike. Any rider that wins in the coming years will have the caveat of could they have beat Stoner. It's too bad too, I wish he weren't retiring.

MotoGP » Stoner enjoying the ride despite 'Island fling

I don't remember a comment about one person being part of the reason. All I remember was him saying he was tired of all bs and politics. Didn't like media. Stoner seems like a tortured soul, never happy in the outside world. I never saw Senna race but I saw the movie about him recently. They seem to be very similar in many ways. Blindingly fast, honest to a fault, competitive, but never comfortable with media or the public. Both had their fans but also many openly disliked them. Its like if they could just race and never have to talk to anyone they would be ok. But neither of them ever seemed happy, even after achieving thier dreams and winning, the negative attention that comes with that level of success and fame was something they didnt see coming, or understand and couldn't deal with.
