F1 » Boullier: Renault is in talks with Group Lotus

From what I can work out from all this, Colin Chapman had the foresight to separate Group Lotus from Team Lotus, to ensure anything that happened to one side of the business didn't affect the other. When Proton bought Group Lotus, they assumed they would have Team Lotus too (similar to how the Americans thought they bought Tower Bridge many years ago!) Obviously they were wrong and there were many courtroom battles with Hunt to determine who owned Team Lotus. The outcome was that Hunt owns the rights. Then Fernandes comes along and says he wants to start a serious F1 team, using Lotus' name (but not Team Lotus) and comes to an agreement with Tony to allow him to call the team Lotus Racing. Now this has obviously cheesed Proton off, because they cannot use Team Lotus. However, they are trying underhand tactics to try to get Fernandes and Hunt to back down, by using Group Lotus to negotiate with Renault. The plot, like the gravy, is thickening....

F1 » Webber: Title a credit to the team – and drivers' all still to play for

Red Bull should let the drivers RACE if there is a chance for both to win the title. If Vettel's engine didn't blow in Korea he would have been leading now. So how can you say they should have backed Webber three or four races ago????? Personally I want Webber to get the title, but I'm not going to wear rose tinted glasses and say he should have been backed so early. This is exactly why the Alonso situation has been such a controversy, simply because at the stage of the season when Massa let him through there was a chance for EVERYONE to win...

F1 » Lotus naming mystery deepens as Proton cosies up with Renault

@ Greener02: This explains why group Lotus (Proton owned) only let '1Malaysia F1 Team' use the name 'Lotus Racing' for one year, and are now fighting for the rights of the Lotus name. Interestingly, the Renault tie-in is with Lotus Cars, and NOT Team Lotus (As Colin Chapman was worried about if the car side of the business went bust, he could still have a Lotus race team, hence the two names).
