They are out, following from MotoGP.com: Amid quickly changing business environment, Kawasaki has been promptly taking countermeasures to cope with the situation. As the world economy is not likely to recover in a short period due to the major impact of the financial crisis, Kawasaki decided to suspend its MotoGP racing activities from 2009 season onward and reallocate management resources more efficiently. Kawasaki will continue racing activities using mass-produced motorcycles as well as supporting general race-oriented customers. It''s a dark day for Moto GP fans. I really hope that Aspar sort out a deal even though they must be mad for even thinking about it but I hope it happens. I wouldn''t run 2 Kawasaki''s without factory support, It''s just making up the grid numbers without a cat in hells chance of a top 5 finish.

They are definatly out of Moto GP TOKYO (AFP) — Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries said Friday it will withdraw from the MotoGP racing circuit as the global economic crisis pressures the firm to cut costs. "The effect of the current financial crisis on the global economy is extremely significant and an extended period of time is required for a recovery," Kawasaki said in a statement. "We saw the need for efficient redistribution of our management resources and have decided to forgo participation in the Moto GP from 2009 on," it said. Kawasaki spends roughly four billion yen (43.8 million dollars) annually to run the team, said an official of the company based in the western Japan

Govey - That's the point I'm trying to make. WSBK is a close & exciting series, this is attractive to viewers, sponsors & manufacturers. FG Sport have worked out a set of rules that encouages this close racing & WSBK is flourishing. MotoGP at the moment definatly isn't flourishing. Think about the 08 season if Rossi wasn't there, Stoner would have walked it! Maybe we would have seen some battles further down the feild but nothing like the Laguna race. All I am saying is that without Rossi MotoGP would not attract the viewers it does now, if you ask people who aren't in to bikes to name 1 rider & they always say 'Valentino Rossi' This is attracting the fans which attracts the sponsors.

I really hope they stay in Moto GP but the tone of Hopper's statement doesn't seem very optimistic. Both Hopper & Melandri are world class racers but I wouldn't let either of them pick my lottery numbers, they are both very unlucky in the decision making department. Fingers crossed for them. Pandaman - Not sure if you have been watching but Bayliss retired so a Rossi vs Bayliss WSBK race is a little unlikely.
