I wish him the very very best, but @Schrieker? "Much worse injuries" is pretty bold, and not well informed. I've posted before on this, I am an Orthopeaedic and sports medicine specialist myself. We're very plainly in new territory for an F1 driver with these sorts of upper extremity/hand injuries given the modern steering wheel and its needs from a driver. This is medical science/art not science fiction. I'm Half-Polish, if that matters a whit, I wish him as well as anyone, he would have done my proud-to-be Polish Mother very proud. We have to be hopeful, optimistic and realistic.

The sensation is NOT from the surgery, it is from the nerve NOT repaired. From mid forearm that will take at 1-2mm/month nerve re-generation for the motor nerve - you guys can do the math, faster for sensation. He's human, the laws of the body still apply. I am so glad he survived but as a professional in the business of his injuries, it is not likely we'll see him in F1 again and I am very, very sad about that. Get well, Robert! Odd, I've very little interest in this season.

I hope he recovers to a productive life, that is his goal. Racing will be irrelevant in 6 months time as the reality sinks in.
