F1 » Kubica released from intensive care

Best of luck, Robert, it's far from over. I just found and listened on ESPN F1 to the post-op press conference given by the head Italian Orthopedic Surgeon (This is how I used to make my living). Look up the structures/functions on Wiki - Both Median and Ulnar Nerves severed, Ulnar artery severed, segmental fractures of both Ulna and Radius, multiple severed flexor tendons. Sometime lay reports are mis-leading, this was indeed limb threatening. Hard to predict, but racing F1 with all the steering wheel functions - I hope he somehow beats the very very long odds against him. I'm very saddened to hear the actual news.

F1 » POLL: Should F1 teams let drivers indulge in dangerous activities?

No, they are well-paid and like it or not this is about money. It's really not fair to the sponsors. F1 is rather controlled and the risks are pretty well-defined. I wish Kubica well as he is my second favorite driver, but Rally Racing is ill-advised for F1 racers. the cockpit is very much more safe in an F1 car than a Rally Car and a false sense of protection exists. It is much harder to suffer serious injury in an F1 car - simple. I am an Orthopedic Specialist by trade, BTW.
