MotoGP » Alpinestars airbag system explained

Very good question Far Canal. Alpinestars web site doesn't give a lot more info than this article but I believe it uses a combination of on bike sensors like GPS, accelerometers and position sensors in addition to rider sensors. I did find a news item saying this technology will be available in late 2011 for street riders at a premium over a regular suit of arouns 2000 Euros. Not in my price range I'm afraid :( You can see their article at alpinestarsinc dot com forward slash safety.

MotoGP » Moto3 to be ‘modern, fairer and cheaper’

"the fact is that Weight DOES matter. but to force smaller riders to carry weight on their bikes... is penalizing smaller riders unfairly. " And not requiring small riders to carry weight is penalizing large riders unfairly. It's all about trying to level the playing field and allow rider skill to play a larger part, and physical size to be a smaller part. (puns intended) :)

F1 » Australian Grand Prix, Melbourne - Qualifying times

So MattF1, what was that you were saying about Rosberg and Schumacher after Friday practice. I'm not a Schumacher hater, I am however realistic and I still think he made a mistake coming back. That said, it's early days and there is still the first race and a whole season to come. We will see how it all shakes out in the coming months. Let the racing begin.:)
