MotoGP » Qatar MotoGP, Losail - Qualifying

I've enjoyed following Rossi through most of his career and I'm as puzzled as anyone over his current performance. He should be able to at least match his team-mates speed but is far from him. I wonder if there is more to this than meets the eye or has he just lost the motivation. Maybe it's just time to call it a career and move on, no one stays on top for ever.

F1 » Ecclestone: F1 may struggle in America

Richard Exactly. I agree that if the NY race goes ahead it has far more chance of success than Austin. A large population base to pull from and the added draw of the many distractions New York has to offer :) I live in Canada but grew up in the UK. One of the things I do miss is the opportunities for a wide variety of sports and entertainment so easily accessible in todays Europe. Oh, and the beer. Did I mention the beer.

F1 » Ecclestone: F1 may struggle in America

@Richard Population of Europe 750 million Population of US 350 million So if you are basing it on population, the US should have about half the number of races as Europe. That's ridiculous of course as there aren't suitable tracks and of course no real interest. I still say population density plays a big part, there just aren't that many fans in "close proximity" to Austin for example, and given the state of the US economy many are being very careful with their disposable income. I know that many Americans will travel long distances to see a NASCAR race but that's because there are a lot of very dedicated NASCAR fans. I think we are arguing the same thing here though, it's not that the US can't support F1 it's more that the US won't support F1. I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this though.
