MotoGP » Factory engine for 2015 Open Honda

re: "nowhere does it say they are providing full factory bikes, they are providing this years factory engines" gentlemen gentlemen, lets settle down. the upgraded bikes will likely not be "engine" upgrades as implied, but simply whole satellite bikes the likes of which Bauti/Bradl are already using. the kit known as the RCV will go away...? or maybe even morph into homologation for WSB and this promised production special...? (yes, J-Rae may yet dance the Jig) why do I say this...? 3 reasons. #1, the pneumatic valve top ends of the factory engines are nitrogen fired. this compressed inert gas requires a reservoir. there is no on-board compressor/generator like what an airbrake equipped lorry might have (think american 18-wheelers). it's what's known as a "total loss" system. when the charge is depleted or the pressure drops below a threshold, the bike/car (for safety) simply stops running as the valves can no longer follow the cam profiles. CONT: don't know exactly what they're doing now, but the early days, the frame hollows were used as the reservoir. and since we haven't seen anything in 10 years that looks like giant C02 cartridges for paintball guns laying around...? it would seem they are still using this system. unlike an F1 car, it's not like grandprix bikes have a hell of lot options for placement of a separate tank. Given that the RCV's were built with spring valves and the intent of being sold off...? there would've been no need to fit them with anything more than a basic frame based off of maybe, what they first used in '07. the modern factory/satellite frames have surely been optimised for this dual role of handling and gas storage. you either want to have the gas pressure ASSIST with handling in some way...? or you'd want to design them so the internal gas pressure had as little effect as possible on handling (neutral). MotoGP » Factories set for first Michelin test

re: "This is so wrong. 'We have to develop the bike to the Michelin'." ps, that's what Suzuki said...!!! lol re: "Michelin is taking over the exclusive MotoGP tyre supply from Bridgestone in 2016 and is also changing wheel size from 16.5 to 17 inch." now don't be surprised if there's a press release from Hamamatsu saying they are going to "dangle the carrot" for another year. even though i already predicted this, i almost don't blame them. in fact, i WON'T blame them... they've gotta be so mad they could SPIT. see, this makes the 3rd major upheaval since they cancelled Christmas. they already knew Ezpelata had no love, but only now do we see more clearly the wisdom of my words for them to focus on WSBK and NOT go chasing glory in MotoGP. 1st was the debut of the seamless box, 2nd was the multi-layered OC debacle, 3rd is simultaneous change of both brand AND rim size. this is a friggin' TRAIN WRECK.

re: "Maybe Yamaha will get the jump on this one. They will likely have their 2015 bike to test with, while Honda will be a couple more months" ooops, maybe you missed it (perhaps YOU were also on holiday), but Honda tested their 2015 proto a month ago. this at the very track were running this weekend. in fact, Dan and Marc both took turns pitching it at the scenery. right then, they already have some idea of what it's going to be like for EVERYBODY on 17's so again they're ahead.

re: "The tyre manufacturer should make the same specification of tyre available to all of their contracted teams/riders." ok, so how should we police this...? not to imply it's "unpoliceable", what I mean is take the lead and formulate a workable plan, not some open-ended, pie in the sky nonsense. I would hope by now I've imparted enough wisdom and examples of critical thinking that you guys should be able to "fly without a net". one day s1's not going to be here to kick around. to that end, time to delegate. i am deliberately holding back on answers to this topic. iirc profx and talentfan were ORIGINALLY tasked with this mission, but they've come up short (i hereby force choke them till they pass out). YOU are in charge now Leftenant Nortman (Vader voice)... i'll expect a report on my desk come Monday 08:00.

re: "Let's go back to free tyre competition and let the teams choose who they want to work with." larry-lar, unbeknownst you've just revealed you're "baby young" to grandprix. not that there's anything wrong with that, except no one who was actually AROUND AND PAYING ATTENTION during the era of free tyre competition (both GP and WSBK)...? would make such a statement.
