ps, evidence now seems to support the Honda/Dorna collaboration goes back even farther and deeper than even I (Lord S1) had thought. now I don't know if any of this is true...? but part of Hondas request to control/manipulate grandprix may have included a promise (or a counter request?) to CEASE AND DECIST homologating technology down to the road. technology which could then effectively be used to BOOST the fortunes of WSBK. ie. a series competing against GP500/MotoGP for your and my dollars (see entry for one hand washing the other). at the turn of the Century, it was no secret both Honda and Dorna had SEPERATE axes to grind against Ducati and the Flamminis. right then, Homicide Detectives investigating a murder would refer to this as "a scenario that fits the available facts". indictments may yet be handed down by a Grand Jury.

re: "Big Red simply *has* to do something." no... they don't. this is just "something" we tell ourselves. as we see, this thought process has gotten consumers f@#kall. those who've been around paying attention (ie. yours truly) know there has been a deliberate disconnect between Honda and WSBK homologation now for 13 years. it was almost understandable when the "V5 shock and awe campaign" was in full swing, but there are now a whole crop of roadrace fans who've never even so much as seen a picture of an RC211, or even know the bloody thing existed...? I bet there are employees hired at HONDA in the past decade who don't even know...? that's how long it's been.

Aprilia ='s the Italian HRC. though it does make further mockery of Dorna's rules and all their "lip service" paid to cost reductions. nothing cheap about hobbing gears.

re: "it's far too late for anyone to catch Rea for the title, but hopefully Tom finding better and better setups all the time will mean we at least have some battles at the front." that or Kawasaki's realized Rea having a triple digit point lead before the month of May has even let out, is no less ridiculous for the championship than Marcus going 10 straight last year in grandprix.

re: "It would be nice if we could get multiple engine makers here" yes it would be nice, but alas you will get NOTHING and like it. re: "The goal of this first stage of consultation will be to take in feedback from manufacturers to further foster the key values of the Moto2 class: keep it accessible and affordable" which tells you right there this is just a ruse to make you think they're doing something, when in reality f@#kall is about to happen. even when you leave out the whole Dorna being in bed with Honda thing...? the fact is an engine change away from the existing CBR mill at this point will trigger a fair amount of R&D costs for everybody in the class as the builders adapt the mounting points of the chassis to fit the new engine, and then everybody (and their mum) begin the data collection process all over again.
