"Who cares about this has-been".Posted by Richard James
A has-been ? Are you sure ? Rossi finished 3rd in the championship last year even though he missed several races due to a serious leg break and came back and still got several podiums and a race win.You don't forget how to ride like that in less than a year especially if you're the rider that has re-written the history books several times during your career.I admit, the more Rossi struggles with this bike the more respect I have for Stoner but he also struggled a great deal with that Ducati and rode around a lot of problems. He won the title on it first time out but couldn't do it again which was the start of the current problems. How many times did he crash the thing due to front end problems in the years after he won the title ? Seems to me Ducati need to design a hole new bike from scratch if they want to win a championship again.

Valentino Rossi lashes out after Qatar nightmare
1 agrees.
RawDawg - Rossi said yesterday that the set up changes he requested after qualifying were'nt carried out by the team so the bike was worse than it had been all weekend.Maybe he isn't trying hard enough at the moment, probably because he knows he will crash if he tries.Hayden may well have had the same amount of podiums as Rossi last year, how many years has he been riding the thing.I'm sure they will get the thing sorted out better in the next few races,or not if they don't carry out changes the riders ask for.

Valentino Rossi lashes out after Qatar nightmare
4 agree.
5 disagree.
"Unrideable? Hayden or Barbera don't think so" Maybe but then again how many times have either won races on the Ducati let alone got on the podium ? Rossi has changed the bike so far as to allow the other guys to go better on it,that wasn't so much the case before Rossi joined Ducati. Stoner's ability to ride around problems masked a great number of issues with the bike,Rossi isn't prepared to take those risks and why should he.He's won 9 world titles in all classes at GP level and set many records along the way and has done so by having the bike set up so he can ride it fast without crashing it every time he needs to push. The last time he rode a bike capable of winning on it he did and might have won the title if he hadn't broken his leg and that was not that long ago.The Duke doesn't work, thats down to the team to sort out.

Ben Spies: 'Scary' Stoner can be beaten
4 agree.
9 disagree.
Hailwood for me was the greatest ever as I've said before.Winning the TT 11 yrs after he retired from racing bikes isn't something that could be repeated.Another great rider not to be forgotten is Jarno Saarinen, what he could have further achieved had he not been killed will never be known.Stoner is a great rider,no doubt about that.Rossi,Burgess and the Ducati team seem very pleased with the new bike they built 2 weeks before the latest tests and designed it from scratch 3 months ago.If Rossi wins a race this year it will overshadow anything Stoner achieves this year from a publicity/fan point of view.I think he will do it.

Which route should CRT take in MotoGP?
9 agree.
If Dorna are going to put several bikes on the grid that are 4 secs off the pace they should ask Yamaha nicely about blowing the dust off of several TZ750s,upgrading them somewhat (new brakes, electronics etc) and putting them on the grid instead. At least they stay as prototype GP machines and will look and sound awesome and who ever gets to ride them will probably enjoy their whole year, plus as fans we will get to see proper racing bikes again ! OK my thoughts are pure fantasy but there's little harm in dreaming, don't ya think

Rossi: Stoner, Lorenzo ahead but podium possible
1 agrees.
2 disagree.
If Rossi is able to ride this bike like he did when he won on the Honda and Yamaha then he will win at least one race on this bike this season. He's still capable of winning, the bike wasn't up to the job last year.He badly broke his leg the year before, missed a load of races, came back and scored 5 podiums and a race win.You don't forget how to ride like that in one year, the rider can only do so much if the bike isn't good.Rules meant they couldn't change what they wanted to last year, they've made those changes now and things have improved. Here we go !

Cyber war? Repsol Honda compare Stoner, Rossi stats
51 agree.
21 disagree.
And the point of these stats is what exactly ? Casey Stoner is a fantastic rider,we all know that and the stats prove it.You could agrgue that Stoner jumped on a couple of bikes that were competative at the time and won titles on them,as for the Ducati,he didn't exactly develope that bike to achieve what he did on it the first year he rode it.As each year went by the bike got steadily worse to the point no other rider could ride it.Rossi on the other hand has won world titles in all GP classes and helped develope bikes other riders can win on and looks as though he and the Ducati team have built a bike this year that he could win on again. On bikes that are on a par with each other,I would still put my money on Rossi. No matter how much I admire Stoner i just can't take to him,Rossi has it all,the charm and charisma that adheres him to the general public and the media and the talent to back it all up as the history books will show for a very long time after he retires.

Rossi 'belittling' title win, says Stoner
1 agrees.
My only hope this year is for Rossi and Ducati to be able to challenge for race wins.I don't think it will be the case but if they do manage to get that bike working how Rossi wants it,the grudge match between Stoner and Rossi will make it a hell of a fight.Stoner is a hell of a rider, just wish he had a personality to match it.

John Hopkins opts for finger amputation
2 agree.
Brave man. When you think how he rode that bike last year when he had serious issues with his finger, kind of makes you think how he will ride it in WSB this year now he hasn't got that finger to bother him. This could be a very good season for bikes.Lets hope everyone gets through it without any mishaps and safe racing for everyone involved, right across the board of motorsport too.Think we had enough fatalities last year to last us for many years to come.
