F1 » Vettel: I think this proves our car isn't boring...

Masterclass by Vettel today! Hard to believe that was his first Finish at Albert park. TV coverage was terrible on Speed though. Where is the race leader? What caused Hamiltons Plank failure? Did he run over a curb? Other peculiarity was Webber tire mileage. He seemed to be getting 3-4 fewer laps per set of tires than Vettel. Vettel's first Stint on the Soft's was good for 14 laps with a full fuel load. But then he got like 20 on the 2nd set, while webber continued to burn them up at an alarming rate. Then he pulled over after the finish? Also never saw Vettel use the Kers or DRS during the race.

MotoGP » Stoner and Honda at '80 percent'

Watched 2010 race last night just to recover the mindset:) A few things stood out. Pedrosa got his usual steam catapult start from the 3rd row and was gone within a few laps. Stoner was patient while back in the pack. It wasn't until he got out front that he started pushing it and lost it. Until that happened he was in a league of one. Rossi was obvoiusly pushing to keep in touch with Stoner to no avail... until the crash. Dovi had motor on everybody at the end of that race. Robbing Nicky of a podium. Lorenzo was extremely patient and precise riding with a busted up right hand. I was amazed at some of his out breaking maneuvers towards the end of the race. Had he been closer to the front early on I suspect that it would have been a much different outcome. Spies was impressive in his debut keeping that front pack in sight the whole race on his Satellite bike. I "suspect" the race will go down something like last year. Dani holeshot, a few surprise visitors in the top 8 for the first

MotoGP » Qatar MotoGP: Testing v Racing

Race can't start soon enough. Everybody is all consumed with how fast the Hondas are when in fact they are no faster than they were last year. Stoner went 1:55.681 on the Honda and 1'55.352 on the Ducati the year before! The Hondas have everybody covered on corner exit and acceleration just like last year here. Stoner on the Honda could be the difference. But that has been said before.

MotoGP » Stoner from Pedrosa as MotoGP testing ends

One more thing to keep in mind is Engine allocations. Last year Honda had a clear edge in engine durability over all others (are you listening Suzuki?) and I suspect that will once again be the case this year. In order for Yamaha or Ducati to truly catch up to the Honda's they may have to gamble a bit on engine durability. That may not have necessarily manifested itself in pre-season testing. Neither Yamaha or Ducati have professed to any sweeping changes in their engine designs in the off season so they may have to dial it down a tad to make the engines last. Just one more variable!

MotoGP » Stoner from Pedrosa as MotoGP testing ends

Four more days of bench racing and then all the guessing will end. Pre-season is pre-season and all could change come Sunday. It is going to be interesting to see how the inter-squad rivalries pan out. Stoner is out to prove he is the man at HRC and Pedrosa is still trying to prove that it is he. All the Focus elsewhere is on Rossi and Jorge, both of whom have been very low key in the Pre-season. The beneficiaries of the focus on the "aliens" will likely Be there own Team-mates. Spies is riding like a machine, Dovi and Simo are quietly very fast and Nicky knows his way around Doha. Honda have found something and are looking very quick but not really a quantum leap to last year so who knows how it will pan out on race day. My Money is on a Spies VS Jorge battle to the end come Sunday.
