After this year Spies will have "EXPERIENCE" on practically all of the tracks the MotoGP guys run on. Lets take a quick look at what he has done on the 2 tracks he actually had experience on this year... Complete Anhilitation over guys who have raced there for years! If you are vain enough to believe that this kid wont be competitive in MotoGP you need to snap to, before you wet the bed!

The one clear message he has sent to every team owner in the world is that he can adapt rapidly to a new bike, team, tires and tracks at the drop of a hat, and be the fastest guy at nearly every freaking one of them! That kids, is lightning in a bottle and all of them want it, price no object!

Rawdawg Yoshimura fabbed up all the really trick Titanium exhausts for them for years. If you go to the Rizla Suzuki MotoGP site and go to Galleries and scroll down to "Rizla Suzuki Motogp 08" it clearly shows the Yosh emblem on the pipe. You can see the old Yosh System. But the new one has apparently been on the bike for awhile now? First I realized it. :)

There is an article on Superbikeplanet called "Valencia MotoGP Test Quote Machine Day One". In the last sentence they say "A quick 'thank-you' is also due to our new technical partner Akrapovic, who are working so hard to help us and already in the first test with their systems we have found a good step forward in power delivery." Can it be? The long history with Yoshimura done for? I havent seen any pics yet but this is huge for Suzuki to part with Yosh.

The way he finished the year in 250's he might actually be glad to be there. A year ago I would have said that he was the hottest property in the 250 class. Not sure if Aoyama and Barbera just caught up or? Just didnt look as smooth this season. Best of luck to him. He's gonna need it. :p

@Chinov Agreed the early season race will be an equalizer. But he has shown that with a little track knowledge he can be on the pace immediately. Look at Donington or Miller. He had raced at each of them before and turned in crushing performances at both of them in WSBK. As he did at Qatar but without the prior knowledge. Heck maybe Playstation is just that good. :)

Pretty interesting to look at his lap times after he cleared Dovi. He was turning faster laps than all of the non-aliens in front of him from lap 25 on, and turned his best lap on the last one. Had he not been embroiled in the great battle for 7th he was in back there he surely would have been running with Colin Nicky and Tony.

When you can only get 16-17 bikes on the grid and their is a global economic meltdown going on it gets hard to stomach the demands he keeps making. Rossi's demands = huge buck$. You could likely field a couple of MotoGP teams on what Rossi alone gets paid. That's a drop in the bucket to the overall outlay too. Burgess and his mechanics salaries, and the cost to transport and maintain Ucchio and the rest of the rossi entourage etc.etc. Rossi will someday leave MotoGP and when he does the Sport will need someone to try and fill up the void. This is why Dorna desperately needs new personalities in MotoGP to be able to backfill when Rossi leaves.

RE:i personally think that the best chance BS have to win a race next year will be at qatar where not all of them have the bikes completely dialed. the other chances will be US soil and wet race outside US soil... Posted by chinov Don't forget Philip Island, Assen and Brno. He knows those tracks well now and While he he only won a single race at each of them, he was alaways the fastest guy there. My point being that he has shown that he can be lethal when he is comfortable and merely real fast when he isn't (Kyalami, Valencia). And now he knows those tracks well. He will need to learn 11 new tracks this next season. So that will be the next biggest challenge to learning the Bridgestones.

Yamaha clearly has the deck Stacked now! If you can't wrap up the manufacturers title with this group... Rossi demanding that Yamaha pick "one" is just pompous grandstanding IMO. Rossi is MotoGP. We all get that. So why does he keep insisting that he be treated like a deity instead of the best racer of the modern era? Spies may well be the first one in line to take the seat vacated by one of these two. If that is Lorenzo's then how long before Rossi made the same demand? The same could be said if Rossi goes to Ducati as he has publicly threatened. Whoever is his teammate had better not be fast enough to steal any of his much coveted limelight.

Yamaha already ran the black and Yellow a few years ago with Edwards and Rossi. Agreed though the Tech3 paint job clashes with Ben's helmet and must go! :)
