MotoGP » Indianapolis MotoGP - Saturday practice times

Looking at the lap charts Lorenzo is in a league of his own. With the possible exception of Casey, no one is stringing together consistent 1:40's like Jorge. The Hondas are inconsistently fast. Both Tech 3 guys are stringing together consistent low 1:41's (are they both riding Valentino's bike?). But past races at Indy were always defiant of what transpired in practice. Going to be a good one.

MotoGP » Ben Spies confirmed as Rossi's replacement

Congratulations to ben! I for one believe he truly deserves it. Yamaha (nor anyone else) could not afford to keep Both Rossi and Lorenzo on-board without a major cash infusion. Those are simply not happening these days. Now they can have two good riders and still have capitol to develop the equipment. Rossi moving to Yamaha from almighty Honda is now viewed as historical in the sport, His move to Ducati perhaps less so. In time I think Suzuki letting Spies go to Yamaha will also be seen as a historical blunder. Will Ben replace Rossi? Of course not, no more so than Rossi could replace Ago. Will Ben do well on the factory Yamaha squad? I think yes. Now about those sponsors?

WSBK » Crutchlow cruises to Silverstone pole

The FIM is soon going to have a sticky situation on its hands! When MotoGP goes to 1000cc's and further stifles the development of what is supposed to be the Apex of motorcycle engineering technology, will they then neuter WSBK's to maintain on track superiority? This is a slippery slope at best. WSBK is gaining in popularity & performance. That is highly attractive to Sponsors in terms of ROI. Why even sponsor a MotoGP team when you could sponsor 4 WSBK teams? MotoGP needs to firmly reclaim its place at the top of the performance heap and also Market it as such. That means Electronics and exotic materials, like it or not. And a fresh approach to Marketing. If not, WSBK is going to swamp em.

MotoGP » Ben Spies celebrates first MotoGP podium

This was buggin me so I went and dug this up. This was a Clarification issued by the FIM last July. To help clear up the situation, the Commission has given the following definitions of new rookie rider and a contracted rider A contracted rider is a rider who has participated in 9 or more events during 1 season. A Rookie is a rider nominated by a participating team for participation in the entire season, who hasn’t been a contracted rider as defined above in the same class in any previous season. I.e. a rookie only becomes a contracted rider after 9 races in the same season. but does that mean that a rookie rider at the start of next season can swap to a factory team after 9 rounds?
