After this year Spies will have "EXPERIENCE" on practically all of the tracks the MotoGP guys run on. Lets take a quick look at what he has done on the 2 tracks he actually had experience on this year... Complete Anhilitation over guys who have raced there for years! If you are vain enough to believe that this kid wont be competitive in MotoGP you need to snap to, before you wet the bed!

The one clear message he has sent to every team owner in the world is that he can adapt rapidly to a new bike, team, tires and tracks at the drop of a hat, and be the fastest guy at nearly every freaking one of them! That kids, is lightning in a bottle and all of them want it, price no object!

I hope this race weekend doesn't spoil him. The bike he will race next year will likely not have the beans his race bike will have this weekend. Apparently he is allowed limitless engines for this weekend since he is just a wildcard. The brainless engine rule is going to force the need for even more corner speed next season in order to stay with the faster guys. I predict lots of front end crashes next season. This may go down in history as the worst innovation since the 800cc GP bike. Best of luck to Ben this weekend. All eyes are on you bud! Hope all the haters making failure predictions are man enough to admit it when he proves them wrong. :)

CONT. Or Maybe Honda will take a page from Yamahas play book and make a cross plane crank 600 engine for next years CBR 600? At least then they would sound like GP bikes.

No one has ever come to be a moto gp champ without coming throught this class. Posted by chris I was getting ready to correct you but since you stipulated MotoGP then technically you are correct save for Nicky. Back on topic though this is a sad ending to watch the final 250 race of all time! I had almost wished they would have done something similar to MX and move to large displacement singles or twins in ultralight GP spec chassis. Something along the lines of modern day Ducati Supermono style race bikes. The new Chassis will, I am sure, be awesome. But for me part of the draw of the GP bikes was that they didn't sound like streetbikes! And Moto2 will just sound like S/S bikes.

Massive Speculation on this one! Both of these guys had major blemishes on their records this year. Suppo was no doubt spanked for not Satisfying Marlboro's needs during the Stoner sabbatical. Tadozzi for not setting team orders (which I applaud him for!) and allowing Fabrizio to (theoretically)take points off Haga. Is it all to get the nest ready for Rossi to come and roost for next season? Who knows. If so, they will need all the working capitol they can get and then some! Rossi's salary would be HUGE and his (presumed) demands would also no doubt come with a stratospheric price tag. While I am speculating...maybe they want to to promote Burgess to be the team principal at Ducati? :)

I was just looking at comparative Qualifying times for MotoGP VS WSBK at Valencia and was again surprised at how close they were. Stoner's pole time last year (on Qualifiers for the last time) was a 1:31.502. Ben Spies WSBK pole time (Likewise on PIrelli Q's) was 1:33.272. A difference of 1.768 seconds. Spies would have qualified around 13th on the MotoGP grid with that lap. Pretty close overall.

Just read over on Superbikeplanet that Livio Suppo is leaving Ducati after the Valencia Round! Perhaps as a buildup to a Rossi Power play?

How is putting your racing number on the bike in any way immodest?

Its going to be an uphill battle for fans of anyone but Rossi around here no matter how well they perform. Stoner was out for 3 races and he is still within striking distance of 2nd place. That takes some doing! And he is still getting bashed. People smack Nicky around for getting "Lucky" against Rossi in 2006. The 3 race truancy by stoner has to cast a big question mark over this season! He has 4 wins this year. Odds are that (were he healthy) he would have at least finished well at those 3 tracks, if not a win or two. He lost the title this year because of his absence, not a lack of speed. I'm not even that much of a Stoner fan, but I'm realistic enough to respect the mans obvious skill.

RE:Ruggia did that in 94 didn't he ? Posted by SHEENE7 I posted a link (of sorts)to a picture of him a few pages back. I saw Ruggia for the first time in 1988 on a 250 but I think he was on a 500 (Sonauto Yamaha)by 1990. He later went back to 250's.
