MotoGP »'s Top 10 MotoGP Riders - 8th

This guy is an unfortunate victim of the MotoGP popularity contest and the current financial meltdown. If times were better he would no doubt have a ride. But in the big picture the sponsors rule and he is just not as easily marketable as some of the others. To be one of only 10 guys in the paddock who has actually won a MotoGP race and not have a ride is testament to the troubled times at hand. He will do well in Moto2 I suspect. Moto2 itself I fear is going to be in for a lot of heat though. The testing so far does not bode well for a what is being billed as a true "replacement" for the 250's. It is what it is though!

WSBK » Haslam paces first day in Valencia

Leons time on the first day is faster than Aoyamas Motogp time after the entire test. Not a slam on Aoyama but the fact is that the WSBK times are creeping inexorably towards MotoGP territory! If the Motogp guys keep headed in the same direction they seem to be, their will eventually be overlap and then what? Great to See the WSBK guys in action! I read that Mladin has been approached for a WSBK ride!

MotoGP » Spies, Edwards 'friends' - but Tech 3 wall will stay.

One more point to remember is that Ben's crew (at least the top tier)are new to MotoGP as well. The desire to keep things workable on all levels may be a contributing factor here. Herve Poncharal has no intention of handing back that 5th place to the Factories! They got a taste of what works this year and are clearly building on it. Or as the Brits are occasionally fond of saying "going from strength to strength"! People expect big things from this team (myself included) in 2010 and people will be looking for every little chink in the armor. Hence the basis for this article.

WSBK » Yoshimura Suzuki to WSBK in 2010.

There is an article on roadracingworld about the background of all this. It seems the Japanese national series is considering adopting the AMA superbike rules package in an effort to cut costs and Yosh didn't want anything to do with it.......... Sorry I had to restrain myself there. Why on earth would anyone in their right mind want to adopt the rules package from the most backasswards racing series on the planet? The DMG ruined professional roadracing in the US and now it is infecting the MFJ series. Can you Blame them for pulling out. While I would love to see Mat riding in WSBK as much as anybody I honestly don't ever see it happening. And Kagayama has had his shot.

WSBK » Vote for the top WSBK rider of 2009!

RE:Not one of, THE best rookie EVER. No rookie has ever come into WSBK and made the kind of impact Spies has. None. Most pole positions in WSBK history and a championship title in his rookie other rider can make that claim. Not only that, Yamaha's first WSBK title ever. Those are facts...fact cannot be disputed. Opinions can and will be but the facts say Spies is the best ever Rookie in the history of WSBK. Posted by Apriliarider First I am a Spies fan so I agree with most of what you wrote but your Facts are just a bit off there. Fred Merkel (88), Doug Polen(91) and Scott Russell(93)also won in technically their "rookie years" but Ben did it as a true WSBK Virgin.

MotoGP » Official: Aprilia ditches Moto2 project.

It would seem that the (highly inflated!) numbers of teams that expressed interest in running in this new crapshoot are falling like flies. Sad too since the sport is shrinking daily. Does it mean that they will divert funding for a MotoGP return? Who knows. Just remember Aprilia has a long history of coming and going from a variety of series at seemingly the drop of a hat.
