IndyCar » Series CEO issues warning over Fontana criticism

Miles brought up a good point about the length of the season and TV. IndyCar makes itself more attractive to TV by ending as Football takes over the TV scheduling. Start in April, run 16-18 quality events, and finish at Labor Day. A more compact series will hold fans attention with each race counting for more and team budgets will be smaller over a season promoting more interest in joining the series. An attactive TV package that can be offered to the free-to-air networks is going to create more fans and give sponsors a larger return on their investments.

F1 » Ecclestone: Mercedes not to blame for ‘one-sided’ F1

It's everything to do with the money! All the engine manufacturers agreed tot he current rules package because it was designed to limit development in the name of cost savings. the problem is that several of the engine makers did a poor job on their engine packages and can't improve them fast enough because the rules prohibit them. This is what happens when costs take precedence over competition. Participants should not be making the rules.

F1 » Horner: We need someone like Brawn to design F1 future

Horner's comments on the strategy Group are right on. His suggestion concerning Brawn has merit in that a benevolent dictator has worked for F1 in the past when tempered by an involved FIA. The fact is that today F1 doesn't have that natural balance of power. But Horner is on the right track when he says that competitors must not be making the rules of the sport. As time goes on we can see that the present system's error's of judgement just get worst with each passing race. For instance, what can be the possible benefit of penalizing a competitor who can not even finish a race if it's not just to totally demoralize that team? How do such penalties improve the racing?
