MotoGP » Lorenzo: Force riders to pit in the rain

In other words, take the decision away from the rider. Riders taking responsibility for their race strategy and risk-taking is at the very core of competition. Please don't make MotoGP a parade. Jorge has shown a certain aversion to racing in the rain and he is seeking to take away an advantage his competitors may have. Can't blame him for trying but it's not sporting. Let's keep MotoGP a series where we can see the best riders doing what they do best.

F1 » Kate Walker: Breaking the omerta

The abject failure of the FIA in governing the F1 business is at the root of this problem. The three teams that came into F1 on Mosley's watch did so because the Mosley FIA promised them cost caps for all competitors. The FIA under Mosley and now Todt have not delivered on this promise and the result is that these new teams have all been destroyed. In my opinion the FIA is no longer a viable governing body for F1 and has been superseded in it's role by a cartel composed of the commercial owners of the sport and the manufacturer teams. I find it amazing and admirable that independent teams Williams, Sauber,Force India and the team currently called Lotus have managed to survive up to this point. I am also perplexed as to their continued participation as there is no possibility for them to win a championship much less a single race so tilted is the field on which they must play.

F1 » Fernley: F1's game plan has been exposed

If the car manufactures are in F1 because of the technology of the present formula. If they use F1 as an R&D lab for developing technology which they can benefit from in their commercial businesses then why should the client teams have to pay anything for being the lab rats of the engine makers? The client teams are actually paying the R&D expenses for Mercedes, Renault and Fiat. So consumers buy more clios, pandas and c classes paid for with the livelihoods of the people who worked for Marussia and Caterham and whoever is next in line. Is this the new value of F1? Is this worth watching any more than a trainwreck or an Ebola outbreak? Great fighting spirit from Fernley and Force India, very admirable, but to what end? No client team has a sporting chance to win a championship now. The playing field has been corrupted by ecclestone and the FIA has abandoned their responsibility to fairly govern the business.
