MotoGP » Hayden losing 'half a second' on straights

Honda is really putting all it's eggs in the "factory" basket. HRC rightly reason that they only need two riders on the fastest bikes to win races and the championships. They are engineering things to make sure the open class fails, even going so far as to produce the RCV1000R. Once all the teams realize this they may never be able to sell another "production" racer to anyone with more memory than a noodle.

MotoGP » Ducati to sell Open bikes

This is a well thought out response to Honda's objections to Ducati going to the open class. It will further aline Ducati with the aims of Dorna and the FIM for the future direction of the sport, I would imagine. Now if Ducati develops their machine this season into a really competitive package a number of private teams will be interested in the buy not lease terms Dall'Igna has offered. This will also create a helpful return on the development program for the GP14 as well as a profit stream on further update packages and replacement parts.

MotoGP » MotoGP to create Factory 2 class?

Tomorrow's headline: Dorna to create new category in the motocycle world championships to be named MotoBestest. The class has an entry fee of one billion euro. Only one factory may enter this category with two motorcycles. The technical regulations will be whatever the entrant wants as will the sporting regulations. The class will run concurrently with the MotoGP class with total television coverage mandated to focus exclusively on the MotoBestest contestants. Those manufacturer interested in tendering an entry can contact Dorna through Senor Carmelo Ezpeleta.

MotoGP » MotoGP to create Factory 2 class?

Ezpeleta has evidently heard from Honda and Yamaha. Dorna was doing so well up to now but by caving in to H&Y pressure they could lose the whole of what they have accomplished. This new proposal smacks of NASCAR style competition balancing where the rules change every race and politics dominates over sport. Following f1's lead is folly but following NASCAR's formbook would be disaster for MotoGP. Carmelo, just say no to H&Y!
