MotoGP » MotoGP to create Factory 2 class?

Tomorrow's headline: Dorna to create new category in the motocycle world championships to be named MotoBestest. The class has an entry fee of one billion euro. Only one factory may enter this category with two motorcycles. The technical regulations will be whatever the entrant wants as will the sporting regulations. The class will run concurrently with the MotoGP class with total television coverage mandated to focus exclusively on the MotoBestest contestants. Those manufacturer interested in tendering an entry can contact Dorna through Senor Carmelo Ezpeleta.

MotoGP » MotoGP to create Factory 2 class?

Ezpeleta has evidently heard from Honda and Yamaha. Dorna was doing so well up to now but by caving in to H&Y pressure they could lose the whole of what they have accomplished. This new proposal smacks of NASCAR style competition balancing where the rules change every race and politics dominates over sport. Following f1's lead is folly but following NASCAR's formbook would be disaster for MotoGP. Carmelo, just say no to H&Y!

F1 » Pirelli concerned by rear lock-ups

Hembery in stating the obvious isn't telling us anything about what Pirelli hopes to do about flat spotting. Are they planning to change the tire construction, will they further restrict the teams in how they inflate the tires or adjust the suspension or the weighting of the contact patches? It would be interesting if Hembery actually shared some technical info about the processes Pirelli use to deal with the problems presented by Formula One. Is that too much to ask?
