F1 » Pirelli unhappy over testing proposal

The Formula One Strategy Group seem to think that the answer to ever issue is to do less. They are fast becoming the dictators on all issues and clearly their strategy is to promote their own team agendas. This demonstrates the folly of letting the boffins control the regulatory aspects of F1. Rememnber that it was the teams that asked for fast degrading tires and the two compound per race stupidity all so that they could continue to develope the formula to be aerodynamically dominated. Left to their own means F1 will become a virtual sport where the cars show up on Sunday morning, have a ten minute qualifying and then race for half an hour to fit into a TV schedule that is full of real sports.

F1 » Pirelli unhappy over testing proposal

I suspect the real strategy behind most of the dictates of the F1 Strategy Group is the promotion of client cars in F1. They think they can force-feed this concept to the small teams and the FIA. Mr. Hembery is correct in what he says and Pirelli should stand up where the weak FIA won't and demand an end to multipal compounds and issue one spec tire for the season. Then let the aerodynamics engineers play their games!
