F1 » Mercedes, Ferrari are controlling F1 – Newey

It isn't the FIA's role to decide who builds engines and to think engine supplies can be controlled be regulations is misguided. Now that the regulations have taken a turn toward mainstream automotive applications the whole engineering cul-de-sac of max downforce , which has very little to do in how autos are used in the real world, is being given a more realistic emphasis. Bad for Newey personally but good for the sport a further de-emphasis on wings can only make the racing closer and more competitve as well as direct innovation into more productive areas.
