"John,John,John, the understanding you seem to have of the max speed figures recorded vs bikes passing each other on the start straight vs how effective the rider made accelerative drive from the incredibly important final corner at Mugello seems to be getting in the way of your opinion here mate. I agree he made some passes for sure in the area you mentioned but that was when his competitors made a less than optimum exit from the final corner - honestly. Well ... just my opinion but based on casey's story from another website that crash don't cover:) Now, replace Stoner/Ducati with Rossi/Yamaha. Could it possible it slipstreamed 2 factory bikes at once with the same fashion way?

Lorenzo uses softer compound to mark his pace setting lap.. so it pretty much will like qualifying time later. Wow.. I don't expected Andrea within the top 3 but Stoner could bump up in qualifying. At the race day Dani surely will be the first one heading to the first corner :)

I'm quite tired telling the truth about ducati and Stoner. you guys can check it everywhere through google. Don't rely too much on the stat coz top speed isn't always followed by a good lap times. But the race it self could tell the truth. How come a "slower" bike can overtake 2 bikes at once during mugello race at the straight line? and it seems it can pull even farther if it wasn't have to enter the 1st corner? but then The duc seems couldn't pull away at the next lap main straight and so on? C'mon guys.. try to figure it out :)

Monster, isn't it GPS system has been banned? Ducati is Fuel Efficient but apparently have to conserve fuel consumption during race :) quote from another source after 2009 qatar race: "The race was entertaining to view as Casey changed his style he jumped out to a lead and really to turn up the heat on Valentino Rossi, who was running some fast lap. Casey revealed later that he had a small fuel consumption problem that he and his team had decided they would try to deal with by making changes to his racing style to see if it would help conserve fuel and not really a response to the lap times of Valentino Rossi". Very impressive, a fuel conserve race while others don't have to.

"The Ducati is efficent with fuel, last year some other makes had to cut back power to finish races whereas the Duke didn't. Desmo valve gear is great as load doesn't increase anywhere as much with revs unlike pneumatic valve action." Are you telling me that a 20.000RPM engine is less fuel consumption than 18.000-19.000 machine?

worldwidewebdoteveryjoedotcomslashtagslashcasey-stoner Look at the bottom of the page under "Casey Stoner wins Qatar" Stoner did mention several times about fuel consumption, man it almost impossible to provide information from other source "Stoner changed his race style after the first couple laps and started to use faster speeds in the corners and higher gears to try to save fuel, but about lap ten decided to change his style again, probably because his early tehcnique weren't prividing enough fuel savings"

If you watched last race at mugello there was a part (at the end of the lap 1) Stoner managed to passed Andrea and Vermeulan at once from 3rd to 1st position at the end of the main straight. Ducati still the fastest bike out there, but it seems Stoner just wouldn't bother to push it to the top end limit just to save fuel (simply because Ducati is a fuel sucker monster) :)

"Stoner is now on the slowest bike (top speed)" I almost spills my coffee cup when I read it. Clearly, you don't know anything about Stoner and Ducati. Go back to watch 2007 Catalunya race, at the first part of the race Stoner seems "unable" to pull away from Dani and Dani even can slipstreamed on the straight but only to lose it at the brake. Then when Rossi passed Dani and right behind Stoner, The Duc finally showed its power ... wondering why? go figure it. There are two reason why Stoner done this.

Well... really it's not 100% Nicky fault riding at the back of the field, last year Nicky (On Repsol Honda) got 1min 50sec as well as Stoner on the ducati. Put Dani on the ducati and he can only compete with the 250cc guys, Dani is too small to be able to "wrestling" with the duke.
