MotoGP » Honda releases picture of Moto3 bike

It is not a huge mistake... in fact i really doubt the races in Moto2 will be close like what we seen last year should open engine formula is adapted. Just look at WSS for the best example - where are other manufacturers when two Hondas are battling at the front? Only Kawasaki occasionally show some threat. Yamaha have no official entry, and where is Suzuki? Engineering-wise, it is much harder to maintain parity of multi-cylinder engines compared to singles - just look at F1 and MotoGP, even WSBK for example - hence why Moto3 is open to all manufacturers. By eliminating exotic items like pneumatic valves to name a few, anyone with decent engine/chassis technology can afford to enter at small budget and still can be competitive. It will be as good as 125... mark my words.

MotoGP » FIM announces Moto3 technical rules

the rules are intended to make racing affordable for teams and closer racing among manufacturers. not all manufacturers can afford something like pneumatic valves and the cost of developing it alone, is astronomical. everything must be back to basics to keep the cost down. forget all initial notions that it will be slower than 125... at this point which one you would prefer to have? 200kmh closer racing or 300kmh one-horse race? face facts - if they don't introduce those regulations that limits technology, moto3 will turn out to be a mini motogp - an arms race among manufacturers at the expense of sky-high cost. mark my words. leave that arms race to motogp alone for the time being...

MotoGP » Moto2: Bradl wins Estoril thriller, Sofuoglu loses out

Moto2 is a different ball game to WSS... Sofuoglu learns that the hard way today. Honestly it is a bit premature to say that he can make it in Moto2... he certainly has the raw pace, but certainly he cannot carry everything from WSS to Moto2 (clearly shows when he lost his grip in the middle of the race compared to other racers especially Bradl). In fact his battle for the third place is the better indicator of his ability at this moment... let's see whether he can do better in Valencia.

MotoGP » Moto2: Simon sets up victory challenge with Sepang pole

without any doubt, scott is a very fast rider - just look at his qualifying position of late. but his consistency and pace on race trim has been questionable at best. with respect to his ability (and avid fans), he needs to overcome this before he can challenge for the title next year. able to ride fast and win is one thing, but to do it consistently is another matter. just ask andrea iannone.

MotoGP » Moto2: Kenan Sofuoglu to race at Estoril, Valencia

i guess quality of the field could play part... i mean, he looks good on WSS because the field quality of the series is lesser than Moto2 (correct me if I am wrong then). Try to pick 3 names for podium finishes in WSS and you will certainly pick him, Laverty, and any other guy for the position. Try to do the same for Moto2 and you will be spoilt for choice. On one weekend you can win, the next weekend you may just be a midfield runner at the best.
