F1 » Hamilton criticises McLaren for engine and gearbox 'waste'

carry on racing despite a lap down is a waste of time? if that's the case , gilles villeneuve can simply choose to retire his car when his car suffers puncture at zanvoort. but he keeps on fighting and drives back with just 3 wheels... despite have to retire upon arriving at the pit lane. that's the difference between great racers and good professionals - and it's a shame that none of drivers right now have that kind of determination.

MotoGP » Moto2 preparations continue.

if one-engine multi-chassis formula works well in formula ford, then why not in moto2? the similarities are there - all handing purely down on mechanical grip by the chassis design with little aerodynamic assistance to ensure close racing. just too bad engine specialists cannot tune the engine (or maybe they can?)...

F1 » Fuji confirms F1 exit.

with all due respect, even though I am happy that Suzuka will host F1 for the foreseeable future but i would love to see other tracks in Japan hosting F1 alternating with Suzuka. They got plenty of suitable tracks - Aida, Autopolis, Motegi... even I would love to see Sugo host a race. Care to see F1 cars go airborne on its straights?

MotoGP » Rossi says tyre rule 'difficult', Stoner 'nice'.

imho, the tyre rule that stipulates only 2 types of compounds available with no overnight specials is ok, it's just the single tyre supplier is not... if only MotoGP can back as multi-tyre competition whilst maintaining two-compound rule.... that will be a very good idea. but as far as i can see, bridgestone now can make tyres equal to everyone, without any pressure to put any of their teams at the top. so now it's up to the rider to get the best out their tyres, and rossi's comment is a bit premature... it's just the first round and there are still long way to go. maybe the compounds did not suit him at qatar, but can suit him at other places. who knows...

MotoGP » Moto2 machines 'qualify' at Albacete.

if the "one engine-open chassis" formula works well in Formula Ford - as it providing close racing while at the same time low running costs, then why it cannot be implemented in Moto2? of course the standards are different between 4 and 2 wheels, but the benefits especially in terms of racecraft couldn't be any different. riders would learn chassis tuning and development, and this would be very critical in MotoGP level. and for the engine itself, i prefer if they stipulate the use of one type of engine, with open tuning permitted to allow rider learn about engine tuning and development. want to harness a MotoGP version of Niki Lauda? just take note of my proposal...

MotoGP » Silverstone to boast 182km/h MotoGP lap?

we must remember that Philip Island is different than the new Silverstone in terms of characteristics, i believe the race is not as close as we might hope. Philip Island (and 'old' Assen) characterised by long, fast, fluid corners with gentle kinks between straights, which allows slower bikes to be "towed" by faster bikes. this arrangement also provides variety of racing lines (just have a look at Mugello). contrast with the new Silverstone, which characterised by long straights with many fast turns before slow ones, hence the high average speed (this arrangement very much like Sepang). i believe Sepang is the best indicator on how close racing is at the new Silverstone will be.

MotoGP » Silverstone reveals new MotoGP layout.

this layout is somewhat similar unveiled somewhere 8 years ago, as a part revamp for F1 after criticism by BE. i notice some difference - the (proposed) F1 layout has no gentle kink before the the sharp bend into the National Straight, and the pits is relocated to the straight after the Club corner, which itself turned into a sweeping, banked corner with Vale corner removed from its entry. whatever it is, i am glad that MotoGP got the taste of this layout instead (albeit slightly modified from the F1 proposal) and it looks really promising indeed!
