Yes the politics is annoying, & can be a big turn-off, but Hamilton should remember that he's in a very privaliged position, being paid a fortune, & doing what the vast majority of us can only dream about.

He should shut-up & get on with it. I'm sure he wouldn't be saying these things if he was still in a winning car.

Max Headroom - I don't recall Brabham ever building a six wheeler (surely you're thinking of Tyrrell, which won the 1976 Swedish GP with Jody Scheckter driving). By the way, the Brabham team were successful until the mid-80's (Piquet was Champion with them in '81 & '83), then the decline bagan with the Gordon Murray designed low-line Brabham of 1986, which didn't work. It wasn't long after that that Ecclestone sold the team, & they finally went bust in 1992. Damons' 11th (& last) place finish was the final race for the Team.

Crash make this look like Hamilton drove for Brabham.'Amongst the esteemed names on its driving roll of honour ... as well as Damon Hill, until Lewis Hamilton the last British star to lift the ultimate trophy'. I don't think so. This is poor journalism again. With regard to protecting their reputation, I'd agree with Jack & his family & Ron Tourenac. The last team bearing the Brabham name (after Ecclestone sold it on)was a joke, even if Damon was driving for them in his first season. The Brabhams vowed then that their name would not be used in racing again unless they were in full agreement. Just call it Formtech & be done with it.

If you watch the footage of the incident, you can clearly see the Pit Lane Marshal give a shrug, then wave the safety car out on to the circuit. Clearly there was a break-down in communication & procedure, BUT Engstler should also have been travelling at a much slower speed as there were yellow flags & safety car boards displayed around the circuit. I'm sure that the rules state that race cars must travel no faster than something like 50 mph during safety car periods, & it's up to the race leader to control the pace until they reach the safety car. If Engstler had done this, no matter who else failed to follow procedure, he would have slowed safely & the accident would not have happened

Gulf made an appearance with the Astons (& won GT1) last year, but it wasn't the 'return' of the colours which has been reported in this story. Previously cars that have carried Gulf colours were the Barazi LMP2 team, & don't forget the Gulf liveried McLaren F1 GTR, amongst others. The story gives the impression that this was the first appearance since the Gulf Porsches in the '70's - Not true. Apart from that, any additional teams in F1 would be great.

The Aston Martin DBR4/250 was raced in 1959 & 1960. They took part in four world championship grands prix during this time, as well as the Silverstone International Trophy F1 race in both '59 & '60. They also entered but did not start the 1960 Dutch Grand Prix. Drivers in '59 were Roy Salvadori & Carroll Shelby, & in 1960 Roy Salvadori & Maurice Trintingnent. Their best results were 6th place in the British & Portuguese GP's in '59, & also 2nd in the International Trophy that year. Unfortunately, in 1959, 6th place did not count for points. ***Note: Wikipedia is a good easy source for F1 race results***

Yes, Richard C, I thought it was Ben Collins as well. He's appeared on the show as himself, has extensive racing experience including F3, GT's, ASCAR, Formula First, Formual Vauxhall Junior, & the Health & Safety Executive report into The Hamsters accident, recorded that Collins had "worked closely with Top Gear as a high performance driver and consultant". He's 34, which seems to tie-in with the newspaper suspicions. The other likely candidate, Darren Turner, also has similar racing experience, up to being a test driver for McLaren.

I don't think Susie Stoddart actually took part in 2005. She was due to drive for ADR, but had an akle injury in pre-season testing.

She''s not the first female for a decade. There was a Japanese woman, Keiko Ihara, who drove for Carlin in British F3 in 2005 & 2006.
