Nice to see the usual idiot haters on here. A few bad choices and everyone forgets the way JV blew onto the scene in 96. He'd come back now and be easily as capable as Webber, Barrichello, Heidfeld etc straight away. Given time to adjust again and support from a team there's easily a couple of great seasons left in him.

I'd love him to come back and give F1 some personality again and to show the losers who can't look beyond a headline how talented he really is.

And as for fat or lacking fitness, again you people are clueless. Stick to your Ferrari & Button bandwagons and congatulate each other and how great you are!

I agree. If he's not going to race then he should move on. Either totally away from the sport or else move to develop another team. Maybe manage drivers. With his neck and the fact he's nothing left to prove, he should just let it be.

So now we finally see the real raison d'etre of andrewmn and his many argumentative posts. No Schumacher fan I have ever come across has the brass neck or sheer naivety to try and excuse the Schumacher/Villeneuve incident. It was as blatant as you will ever see. So much so that the FIA even decided to punish him (punishing a Ferrari with MS in it - now that takes a pretty clear cut incident). I suggest it's you that get's your eyes tested. Even MS admits he done it but you claim it was a racing incident with no blame :-o Oh and I'm disappointed for MS fans that he's not coming back. It would have been very interesting to see him with the current crop.

I'd be very interested to see the back to back comparison with the races that are live on both sides. Unbelievable how much better Toby and Julian are. Neil Spalding's great too.

@ Johnsons. The difference is (re@ the BTCC) it was becoming too expensive for the manufacturers which is why they left and things had to change.

I think Weber has said Schumacher won't do it. Badoer and Gene haven't been doing a lot lately either so I can see where Lauda is coming from (although it's a bit harsh). I can't see them doing an Alonso deal unless the knew Massa wouldn't be back this year. They need someone that's been very active lately, with great experience and can get to grips with the cars very quickly. Yes, that's right. Villeneuve in a Ferrari again. The right choice and the bonus of being a PR master stroke :)

Oh and Dave Smith, what a ridiculous message that was. Clearly spoken by a person that is clueless towards JV's history and the great feedback of recent team mates and teams he has been part of. I'm guessing you are someone that's always hated JV and gladly jumps on any negative bandwagon story you hear. The FACT is several teams are talking to him and have been for sometime. Your various accusations are totally inaccurate. Still, it's a lot easier to just label someone as a bad egg or a has been. Convenient label to throw around and saves actually diggin deeper and learning the reality. So come on, let's have all your 'disagrees' :p

This story has been proven totally untrue by JV himself. No-one from Sport Bild interviewed him and he has confirmed that while he is still talking about an F1 return, the chances are slim (unfortunately)

A bit late with this story given that he said it in the interview after the race. Anyway, he has a point but if McLaren saw value in keeping him out then so be it. I don't see what he would learn with the car being so damaged though and even if it had rained, he would never make the lap back.
