9 agree.
andrew mac - are you seriously suggesting that Sepang, Shanghai, Bahrain, Catalunya, Hungaroring, Nurburgring, Valencia and Singapore Marina Bay, all with clinical, boring layouts that prevent overtaking, are all superior to Silverstone, with its mixture of fast sweepers and tight stadium section - and colossal history and atmosphere, and should all be kept in place whilst Silverstone should be dropped?! Incredible.
I'd agree if you said that there are plenty of better non-F1 circuits in the world than Silverstone (Brands Hatch, Road America, Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca, Portimao, Imola, Zolder, Zandvoort etc), but to say that it is inferior to the other current F1 circuits is madness.

Whitmarsh: Loss of British GP would be 'massively damaging' to F1
How could I forget! Although F1 is about as likely to go there as it is to race on the Nordschleife... Well, we can still dream! @Taz: I think we may have crossed wires - I said all those Tilke circuits, Catalunya etc were crap!?

Olly Jarvis: F1 isn't the be-all-and-end-all
2 agree.
At least he's in a series where the driving matters more than the off-track politics. Good for him. (Except for the considerably smaller salary, of course)

Vauxhall to quit at end of season.
I agree with Matt - some of the best years of the BTCC (the RS500 years for instance) took place with next to no manufacturer support. As far as I know, the first works-supported team was BMW (run by Prodrive) in 1988 and then Vauxhall in 1989, and they were running in Class B and Class C respectively so not even fighting for outright race wins - it was the independent Sierras that took the honours (although not in the championship, save for Gravett in 1990). The news is obviously a blow for the BTCC's standing and reputation, but as soon as we get an economic turnaround there will be an instant improvement.
