robert.donovan.54922: I would put Stewart's 1968 victory by over 4 minutes at the Nurburgring, in the rain, as one of the greatest drives ever. In 1958 there was a greater disparity in the cars, and driving into the distance for the top drivers and cars was not that unusual. The Nurburgring? In the rain? Classic.
In the history of grand prix racing there were many a great drive and achievements by individual drivers, historians to this day still regards Juan Manuel Fangio’s 1957 Nurburgring drive the greatest performance ever produced by any driver in the history of grand prix racing.
Sunny you forgot to mention that Fangio was 46 at the time!!

F1 » What we learned at the British Grand Prix?

jp13......speaking of forums, has anyone noticed that absolute lack of posts on the British GP? Although it was one of the more exciting races under the current regs, there seems very little enthusiasm for F1 on here. Just look at the number of posts last weekend for the Assen MotoGP, and compare that to this weeks F1 posts, probably in the region of 10:1 in favour of MotoGP. We have some ostriches on here who refuse to acknowledge that there is anything amiss in F1, and although the British F1 GP was virtually a sellout sadly this is not the case elsewhere. OK some of us oldies may have run out of ideas, but not all of us!! Anyway lets hear some FRESH ideas from you youngsters.

titfortat: I liked when the tyres were going off fast a couple years ago, it made the race so entertaining, now it's boring.
I liked when one set of tyres lasted the whole race, when race results were not decided by the theatre of who is the fastest pit crew. Sunny, if the brief has to be followed, then I advocate that every pitstop must last 6secs. This would stop the nonsense that I referred to above, and would ensure greater safety with wheels being correctly fitted. More radically, if pitstops went to a mandatory 10secs then it would be possible to reduce the number of crew with obvious cost savings, but maybe that's a step too far at the moment.
