@reinmacre. IMHO If one ever heard the 250 v4 Yamaha vs the Honda 6 one would know what the best sounding racing bike was even the MV, Gilera Moto Guzzi or Benelli with their magaphones sounded better than two strokes, not saying the two stroke didn't sound great but the 4s, 6s and v8s were sheer music to this old fellas ears I recall the disappointment the late great Barry sheen felt when he first heard the new 4 stroke era as did I the only bike that vaguely and I do mean vaguely sounded like the old days was the Ducati At least I know of one other who was bitterly disappointed. RIP Barry.

@HRC. I was just saying the oval Honda was a revolution. Had FIM in their foolishness IMHO not put the development on hold Honda would have come up with a genuine V8 and blew the competition away, it would have been nothing new as Guzzi had done it but did not have the cash to develop it Honda did. Now FIM in their wisdom decided to go to 250cc twins and 500cc fours MV held out for as long as they could but as everyone knows a 2 stroke will always win, well since they got around to them not seizing all the time. Was this good for racing, how long was it before a record was broken in a 250 race racing off the shelf Yamaha's old twin racers from back in the day or best of all Aermacchi's FIM in their ultimate wisdom destroyed racing for about a decade...IMHO that is

@Abefan. Ernst Degner from memory defected from East Germany took the rotory valve from MZ and sold it Suzuki, he was not only a good racer but also a a good mechanical engineer. Now for those who say everything is new to a particular company well lets start with the tyre which was first made by Dr Dunlop in Belfast for his sons bicycle IT HAS evolved, first engines side valves second overhead third OHC then DOHC there have also been 3 valve heads, I remember when Yamaha came out with the water cooled V4 two stroke and it was not the norm at the time a lot thought it was new yea 30 odd years new besides the obvious computer add ons the only thing that was truly new radical idea was Honda's twin oval 500cc trying to remain 4 stroke. And things just keep on evolving including the machinery that make them.
