MotoGP » UPDATED: Stoner facing fitness battle.

Stoner does need rest, but if he can ride around and get third without taxing himself too much it will keep his title chances alive if they can find something that helps after the 1 week break. IMO Stoner should sit out FP2 completely, do just enough laps on soft rubber to get near the front and conserve himself completely for the race. I'm sure Casey do very few practice laps, similiar too Catalunya. For people who are doubting Stoner's condition actually listen to what he says on MotoGP.com - he's more disappointed than anyone.

As if Stoner need an excuse for anything. The Yamaha is clearly the best bike, if Stoner wanted an 'excuse' it would be the easiest thing in the world to point at the bike. But he's not, he's saying the bike is great but he can't ride it 100%. He set the fastest lap of the race at Catalunya and very close to at Assen as well, the problem is he can't maintain that pace due to physical exhaustion. Pencil Stoner in for a solid third at Laguna anyway, even with an illness.
