F1 » FIA to study closed-cockpit concepts

I hope I can deliver my thought here without offending. I think it'll be a mistake to introduce closed cockpits. Obviously, the incidents that have lead to deaths in open wheel cars in recent years have all been due to head injuries: Henry Surtees, Dan Wheldon, Jules Bianchi and now Justin Wilson. However, the introduction of the closed cockpit would take away the thrill from the driver. As a racer myself if the danger is removed then it loses the ultimate thrill of pushing the limits, furthermore it becomes a more attractive sport for people to start doing, thus losing the exclusivity.

F1 » FIA to study closed-cockpit concepts

JayT: I think for a start we should ban oval racing and not use tradition as an argument against it. Just look at these facts: oval racing broke Dario Franchitti's back and ended his career
That's not a fact at all, Franchitti fractured his back at Houston, which is a road course. Also it didn't end his career, the injuries sustained in the crash combined with previous injuries sustained lead to Franchitti's choice to stop. Additionally, if racing at speeds in excess of 150mph becomes safe, then it becomes boring. The risk is part of the enjoyment and thrill. If you don't want to face the risk of dying then don't race.

MotoGP » Moto2: Suter to support ‘at least four riders’ in 2016

FLtrooper: They should also have a spec frame. That could rule out all the kalex/mistral/suter/ bs and only the top riders will prevail.
The whole idea of Moto2 was to introduce MORE manufacturers in production of motorcycles as well as aftermarket companies into grand prix racing. Moto2 is basically a spec chassis class this year and we've only really had one entertaining race in Indianapolis. A lot of people have said this is the most boring season of Moto2 because it's been similar to MotoGP in the fact that we only have 4 riders capable of making the podium.

Madmitch51: ...maybe nose cones and rear wings could have some type of built in restraint like F1 suspension to stop wheels flying off, ?
Henry Surtees was killed by a flying wheel after it cut its teather, so it's not always the answer. Like you say, how far do you go? If people wanted to ensure maximum safety in motorsport then it would cease to exist.

MotoGP » Rossi given honorary BRDC membership

With respect to the Rossi haters, I've seen a few different car racers post pictures up of Rossi on Instagram in the past 18 months saying how much an inspiration he is even to them, I've never seen that about any other motorcycle racer. No matter how much you dislike him there's no hiding from the fact that he is an amazing talent as well as bringing in a lot of spectators and making our sport more widely known amongst the general public.

MotoGP » Restarted race ‘toughest of year’ for Kent

ElbowDown93: BT Sports commentators should stop harping on about Kent, it's annoying when these guys keep on 'complimenting' Kent every single session . These guys are talking like he is already the champion .. things can go wrong in a single session.. Look at the last two races ,things haven't gone exactly how Kent had wanted it to be even though he had the pace to clearly win or be on the podiums for sure in the last two races.
With all due respect the BT commentators harp on about Sam Lowes far more than they do about Danny Kent.
