MotoGP » Lorenzo takes thrilling Jerez MotoGP pole

@Codger You do know that they were about 10 sec off the pace yesterday, right? Most people understood this except the ones "celebrating" like it was something to get excited about. Seriously, when Rossi finished in P2 in FP2, him and Dani's time was about 2 sec slower than Silva's P1 time in FP1. FP2 yesterday meant nothing except for the ones looking for some hope.

MotoGP » Spanish MotoGP, Jerez - Qualifying

Spectacular battle between Pedrosa and Jorge for pole. Nice show there boys! Brilliant session by Cal. Not the favorite track for Stoner or Spies and it showed. Nice job by Nicky putting his head down and getting on with the job. It's no surprise that Rossi isn't my favorite but it's getting embarrassing for me and hard for me to watch this epic failure. He needs to either get off his ass and push the bike hard or go home or to WSBK. This is getting ridiculous.

MotoGP » Crutchlow ready to take podium chance

"Rawdawg had his own parameters I seem to remember for judging Cal's worthyness and it centred around a SS600 championship not being sufficient" @pp916 Wait, what?? Exactly how many riders have been promoted to MotoGP based purely on a WSS title? WSS is not even a feeder series for Mot2 and barely a feeder series for WSBK. How many riders with multiple WSS titles like Superglue, Pitt, and Charpentier were you screaming deserved to go to MotoGP based on their WSS results? You guys saying Cal deserved a shot a MotoGP based on a WSS title were making up YOUR OWN criteria and parameters trying to justify his promotion. I was using parameters, results, and accomplishments already established by past riders. Don't act like Karl Muggeride deserved a MotoGP ride after he won WSS because basically that's what you guys were saying.

I'm not trying to "pacify" anything. The fact of the matter is that questioning Cal's promotion was based on on-track performance and results and not out of "hate for Brits" or whatever you and Wosi are trying to make it out to be. Cal achieved less than any other WSBK rider who had got promoted in the last decade or more. Don't try and turn it into something esle. And I definitely stand by may statement that is wasn't mostly Yanks or whatever that were doing the questioning as well. Let's not act like some Brits didn't rate Cal because the posts said different.

Wait a minute Wosi You pop up on here in your once a month appearance stirring the pot with BS. You can almost count the amount of "Yanks" that post on here on your hands. To say it was largely a "Yank contingent" that question Cal's promotion is ridiculous considering this is a vastly British site. And yes, Cal has proven that he belongs - I've said that many times. But let's not act like questioning his promotion wasn't legit and was out of spite. When has 3 WSBK wins and not a sniff at title contention been the bench mark to earn a MotoGP ride? Cal didn't have near the resume of other WSBK riders who got promoted (Edwards, Bayliss, Hodgson, JT, Haga, Spies, Xaus, etc) so questioning his promotion was fair. Don't have selective revisionist memory.

Cal went well here last year and should have earn a good result. But like Simo, Rossi, Spies, etc he tossed away a good point scoring opportunity. There a more than a few riders who would like to improve on their results from last year and Cal is one. And like last year, early races in the season will be Cal's best opportunity to get his best results.
