F1 » Six of the Best: Possible future F1 circuits

Yeah most of these tracks are completely unrealistic. I think the layout at Phillip Island would be terrible for F1, and Laguna's not well suited wither. Although both are great race tracks. Mugello and Portimao are probably the only suggestions that have any realistic chance to ever host an F1 race, but then those two I reckon would be pretty brilliant!

Road Atlanta is a really cool track too, although I don't think either of those two are really that suitable for F1 in their current state. Probably more so than the likes of Laguna and Sonoma though, although both are seriously cool tracks. They are just too short and too packed with corners to really work for F1. Road America and Road Atlanta could probably be made to work though, and if so they could be really great! Also, about Phillip Island, when it's difficult to overtake in a V8 Supercar due to the relatively short straights and many sweeping turns, that hardly bodes well for F1... The only realistic Australian option to Albert Park is probably Eastern Creek. Bathurst would be absolutely epic but most likely will never ever happen, and if it would I fear they'd need to redesign the track so much that they'd just ruin it.

F1 » Lotus confirms Maldonado

Well I'll stick with what I said in some other thread: the problem is not that Maldonado is a bad driver. He's not, he's very quick and his junior record shows that. Throughout his career he's always been very fast but equally very erratic. And that brings us to the real problem. Crashes, outbursts, dangerous on-track antics... and to top it off accusing his own team of sabotaging him. He is just nuts. And I'm not sure he has it in him at all to calm down.

F1 » Lotus confirms Maldonado

Says more about their financial state than anything else though. Because yeah, of course it's a short sighted decision. But you don't sign a pay driver out of greed, you do it because you have to in order to survive... And when you're in that position you can't afford to look to the long term. I do hope I'm wrong, would hate to see this team fold.

F1 » Lotus confirms Maldonado

On a serious note though, I think they've shot themselves in the foot here. A lot of Lotus' marketability depended on Kimi. He is popular, and people think he's cool etc. And I must say the Lotus marketing team did a very good job in working with that. So not only is he the lesser driver, I think Maldonado is also a way worse replacement than Hulkenberg would be. He's not popular nor very charismatic. Hulk on the other hand already has many fans, is a likable guy and also has a cool name that I think could fit in well with the way they already communicate. I mean he is after all the HULK!
