F1 » Hamilton: It’s far from over

He's definitely got every possibility to take chunks out of Rosberg's lead here and there, and stay withing striking distance for that awful double points finale. So it is indeed far from over, thanks in part to Bernie. And yeah, if he can indeed relax a bit that has usually served him well before so if he can keep this attitude up that'll make him even more of a threat. Though he hasn't exactly been difficult to shake in the past...

F1 » Rosberg apologises to Hamilton and fans

Just how mad must he be inside now? Hamilton runs him out of road to defend his line several times across the season, Rosberg is a good boy and backs out, and the one time he refuses to yield they make him apologise publicly and go to the media saying they've punished him. Personally I thought he needed to prove that now infamous point for that very reason. Guess it didn't work, huh. I guess he really needs to pick his fights very carefully now. But I think there's a risk he'll be very disillusioned from this, from his point of view this must feel like being ordered to let Hamilton step all over him. And from Mercedes point of view, it seems like they're desperate to try and keep the fans happy but instead they just keep digging a deeper and deeper hole...

F1 » Rosberg apologises to Hamilton and fans

richard: clifton. totally correct. nico apologised for the collision, not for causing it. lulu himself seems to have gotten his wrists slapped, but has fallen short of apologising for the collision. interesting that sky show showed that the same type of move by nico had been attempted twice before this year, but lulu forced him off the track on both occasions. i can understand nico saying "no more". maybe if merc had pulled lulu to task before, then spa situation would not have arisen.
But they didn't, they heaped praise on him instead, so they've definitely helped create this situation. And yeah again, as pointed out it was judged a racing incident by the stewards so I really don't see the point of Mercedes going back to put more fuel on this now, several days later. Why couldn't they just officially keep the line that it was an unfortunate race incident, referring to the stewards if necessary, and then sorted any disagreement between the drivers intern

F1 » Kate Walker: The rock and the hard place

They're just shooting their own foot IMO. Increased coverage will mean increased value, and that will benefit both the teams, promoters and commercial rights holder. Instead we get, just as Kate describes, an F1 that's increasingly niche. And that's very much happening already. Back when it was still on free channels here in Sweden, the coverage in magazines and news sites was much bigger than it is today, despite the fact that we now have a Swedish driver.

F1 » Hamilton/Mercedes contract talks on hold

Lulu has never even dominated his own team mate never mind eras.
Well actually he did dominate Kovalainen. Not sure that qualifies him as the greatest ever, but still... To be honest though I think you're on to something. I'm convinced Mercedes hired him because they saw a new, younger customer base evolving and they felt his brand would strengthen that even more. But I think he's turned out a bit more polarising than they hoped for, and as such may turn away their main customer base. If that's the case then it will definitely not be worth it. Trouble is, he is considered one of the biggest stars in F1 today, rightfully or not, so they need a big name replacement.
